Field goal percentage all time rank still correct?

The article mention his rank in field goal percentage to be all-time third in the introduction and second in the section player profiles, both with old references (2011/2010). On nba.com (http://stats.nba.com/alltime/?SeasonType=Regular%20Season&PerMode=PerGame) it looks like it would be eigths now with several players active having overtaken him. should that be changed? 2003:E9:7F03:A601:CD97:511F:4634:ACED (talk) 23:50, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

DJ Diesel

Shaquille taught himself how to DJ at the age of 15 on a $200 setup he purchased at a pawn shop with money from cutting grass, walking dogs and washing cars. Since age 15 Shaquille knew he always wanted to “rock crowds” professionally and in 2015 he launched the moniker “DJ Diesel” [1]

“DJ Diesel” has played some of the most notable festivals and venues in the world including: Tomorrowland, LIV Miami, Lost Lands, Hard Rock Las Vegas, and more. In the Summer of 2018, DJ Diesel truly exploded with the 15 date, "Summer of Shaq" tour where Shaquille played alongside some of the biggest names in electronic dance music including Diplo, Steve Aoki, NGHTMRE, and Excision. Shaquille said, it's "all about FUN and making people dance”. [2]

Shaquille launched his own festival - “Shaq’s Fun House” in March 2018 at Miami Music Week. The event featured the world’s best DJ’s, carnival attractions, circus performers, incredible food, over the top decor, and SHAQ’s VIP guests. DJ’s Diplo, Steve Aoki, Nervo, Carnage, Alan Walker, A-Trak, Cheat Codes, Codeko, and more joined Shaquille on-stage. Shaq’s Fun House had glowing reviews across: The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, ESPN Sportscenter, TMZ, Vanity Fair, People Magazine, Billboard, and dozens more. Celebrity guests Rob Gronkowski, Daymond John, Alexander Wang, Von Miller, and tons more partied through sunrise, yielding the most buzzed about event of the year in Miami. Degrees

Someone should add his 3 degrees (B.A., M.B.A, Ed.D.) to the profile section. I think they'd need to stop using the basketball template to do this. I don't know how to do this but I hope someone can. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quinzdom (talkcontribs) 05:42, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Disagree. His notability is not from his degrees.—Bagumba (talk) 06:07, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

High school number incorrect?

The "Early Life" section mentions that Shaq wore #32 in high school because there was no #33 jersey available but there is a picture in that section where he is wearing #33. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbisbee4 (talkcontribs) 00:57, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Business ventures O'Neal is also an active businessman and investor. He was an active bond investor in the early 1990s but continued to wade into stocks and made investments in various companies such as General Electric, Apple, and PepsiCo. He described what has worked best for him in stock investing was where he felt a personal connection with the company.[234] He has also been an active real estate entrepreneur. O'Neal was looking to expand his business ventures with real-estate development projects aimed at assisting Orlando home owners facing foreclosure. His plans involved buying the mortgages of those who had fallen into foreclosure and then selling the homes back to them under more affordable terms. He would make a small profit in return, but wanted to make an investment in Orlando and help out homeowners.[235]

In conjunction with Boraie Development, O'Neal has developed projects in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey including, CityPlex12 and One Riverview. [236][237][238][239] [240]

O'Neal is on the advisory board for Tout Industries, a social video service startup company based in San Francisco.[123] He received the position in return for breaking news of his NBA retirement on the service.[241]

In September 2013, O'Neal became a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings.[242]

In June 2015, O'Neal invested in technology startup Loyale3 Holdings Inc., a San Francisco brokerage firm whose website and mobile app enables companies to sell a piece of their IPOs directly to small investors who put up as a little as $100 and also allows investors to regularly buy small amounts of shares in already public companies.[234]

O'Neal is an investor for eSports team NRG Esports.[243] He has also appeared in television commercials promoting the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league ELeague.[244]

In late 2016 O'Neal purchased the Krispy Kreme location at 295 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta. O'Neal is also the global spokesperson for the company.[245]

As of early 2019, O'Neal became the spokesperson for Papa John's. The company is paying O'Neal $8.25 million for a three year endorsement. After the public announcement, Papa John's stock increased 5%.[1]

Adding DIESEL to 'Music Career'

DIESEL aka Shaquille O'Neal (DJ) was revitalized at TomorrowWorld in 2015. After performing at the festival, SHAQ has worked for 3 years on perfecting his craft and the DIESEL project. Since then, DIESEL has headlined world renown venues Echostage and Red Rocks DIESEL also toured North America on his Summer of SHAQ tour in Summer of 2018. DIESEL also has a 2019 summer residency at the Wynn Las Vegas where he performs monthly alongside an international Summer 2019 tour.

DIESEL also collaborated with NGHTMRE and Lil Jon on 'BANG' which was released worldwide on all DSPs.

DIESEL also created his own part music festival, part carnival, part circus Fun House known as -- SHAQ's Fun House. SHAQ's touring Fun House has set up in Miami, Florida during Miami Music Week in 2018 and 2019 as well as in Atlanta during Super Bowl LIII weekend.

Please change "The next day, the Boston Celtics announced that thay have sign him, but the terms weren't disclosed." to "On August 4th, the Boston Celtics and O'Neal agreed to terms on a 2 year contract worth $3 million." Also please change the fact that they lost every game to the Indiana Pacers in the 1995 NBA playoffs. They beat them in the Eastern Conference Finals and lost every game to the Houston Rockets, not the Indiana Pacers. [1]

This should be changed or a source should be cited. 7'-7'1" is relatively common for an NBA center. Citation 25 (in the section discussing Shaq leaving LSU for the NBA) states the Shaq statue at LSU is outside of the basketball practice facility. As a former student of LSU (was there when the statue was erected), this is technically correct but incomplete. The statue is outside of the Pete Marovich Assembly Center. The basketball team practices here (in a lower side court), but it is also the official basketball arena where all games are played. I am simply suggesting this article state the statue is located outside of the Pete Marovich Assembly Center rather than simply the practice place.

Not done. Not familiar with the history of the articles, but Wikipedia treats LSU Basketball Practice Facility and Pete Maravich Assembly Center as separate subjects. The Shaq statue is in front of the former (north side of the complex).  Ganbaruby! (talk) 18:38, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

I report that Shaq has not won any oscars. The "executive" producers do not win the Oscars and, moreover, they are not even nominated, of course. Addition to 'Outside of Basketball'; Shaq recently made headlines in his recent trip to Australia, after meeting with the current Prime Minister in relation to proposed 'The Voice to Parliament' initiative,[1] and sparking a frenzy with Culture Kings fan meeting in which a lack of security meant that fans were not able to see their idol.[2]

Remove line "Both Robin Wright in her book Rock the Casbah as well as the Los Angeles Times have identified O'Neal as a Muslim." Lede suggestion

Would it be asking too much to also describe Shaq as an actor and musician in the opening sentence of the lede? I feel as though both non-basketball talents are notable, and thus would follow the MOS:LEADBIO guidelines. I obviously don’t want to make the changes unilaterally. KirkCliff2 (talk) 18:38, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

I agree with him being an actor but I don't know him as a musician. I think it should be added as "occasional actor." GTAGamer245 (talk) 12:43, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
They should not be in the lead sentence or opening paragraph per MOS:ROLEBIO:

The lead sentence should describe the person as they are commonly described in reliable sources...However, avoid overloading the lead paragraph with various and sundry roles; instead, emphasize what made the person notable. Incidental and non-noteworthy roles (i.e. activities that are not integral to the person's notability) should usually not be mentioned in the lead paragraph.

They are already mentioned later in the lead. —Bagumba (talk) 00:29, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
