Though this particular article does not technically refer to existing members of Congress, it represents a very relevant (and peculiar) facet of American Government. Move lists of officeholders here

Since the shadow senators and shadow representative are not federal positions and are not recognized by Congress, I think the lists of the officeholders should be in this article, not in United States congressional delegations from the District of Columbia (which could link to here). Treating them as part of the congressional delegation exacerbates the confusion with the House delegate. Besides, the whole point of their existence is that they're not part of the congressional delegation. —KCinDC (talk) 21:32, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed accuracy on alleged Puerto Rico shadow legislators

Puerto Rico does not elect any shadow U.S. legislators and governor Rosselló does not have the authority to appoint such posts. Please provide reliable sources for these claims or the information will be removed as it's innacurate. —Ahnoneemoos (talk) 03:28, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Interim officeholders were appointed by Rosello and confirmed by the Puerto Rican Senate until elections can be held to determine their replacements. A law was passed creating the authority to do that.^[1] Astrofreak92 (talk) 03:04, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot use the term 'officeholder' because that term is used for elected officials. PRican shadow congressmen were not elected nor is any election planned to elect them. Act No. 30 of 2017 created the post, but it establishes that the shadow congressmen are and will be appointed by the governor, not by election (source: the act itself, in English, from the official website of the PR Legislative Services). How are these persons chosen? By direct appointment by Governor/Mayor of by referendum/election? Wouldn't the celebration expenditure of the latter be a crime of (economic) (public servant) embezzlement?
