Creation

I've just completed creation of this article (I think). On his own, I don't think Connolly would pass notability, but he was the only overarching theme that I felt could host some fairly notable content. To these ends, most of the article is made up of information regarding other short films, Film Riot, and some more about Revision3, none of which is currently covered by Wikipedia. I'm going to flesh each part out more, and add some more references, and maybe in the future each segment might have enough for its own article. drewmunn talk 10:15, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Film State

How could this article be complete without Film State? – Conrad T. Pino (talk) 00:36, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to add it, it also needs to document Pimp Your Production in detail.  drewmunn  talk  05:43, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Regarding Film State, don't put too much weight on it; Ryan's but the presenter, 'tis Josh's show.  drewmunn  talk  06:22, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notability?

This article reads like an advertisement for "The Ryan Connolly Show" which is essentially what Filmriot is. As a non-budget indy filmmaker myself I'm often left agog at how Connolly makes everything about him. His short "films" produced with Hitfilm (Westworld to Yuma and Portal Combat) seem to be aimed at the low-end crowd BUT Connolly proudly boasts about how he hired the Arri Alexa with ... (option, lens, etc.) It's not that hiring this gear is expensive (although it's not cheap) it's that most people don't have the knowledge to use them unless they're college educated in media and then, they would be unlikely to need Connolly's input. Frankly, they're not even that great. Now it's not that I'd put anything I've done up there but when you have access to that kind of equipment, producing high-quality footage is almost a given. Most of us are working with Canon DSLRs or the Sony's mirrorless cameras - a few might have dabbled with (gasp) the BMCC but not Arri or Red! Unless we put that under criticism, but I don't know if we can cite anyone mentioning this. I digress, but ultimately, this entry doesn't really do it for me and I can't see why another internet "celebrity" (that term itself is questionable) should be given page space on Wikipedia. There are certainly other film and media educators who do a LOT more than Connolly with a lot less, John P. Hess for example at FilmmakerIQ. Smidoid (talk) 19:20, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
