Never bred in captivity?

Removed this claim:

"Ruffed Grouse have never been successfully bred in captivity."

Allen in Auk 51 p180- discusses his captive females producing eggs with 96% fertility rate. Though he does not explicitly say he brought up young, the general impression of his report is that this was commonly achieved and not really worth mentioning. Other grouse reproduce not too rarely in captivity. HBW claims sizeable restocking programs exist. Plenty of circumstantial stuff suggesting the claim is utter BS, but no smoking gun. Joseph B. Barney quote

Who the heck is Joseph Barney (apparently not the Alabama physician or the 18th century religious painter)? And why is he given a long quote, given that it's not all that accurate or well-written for wikipedia purposes? I at least indented it and put a citation needed, so it's more clear that it's a quote from one person. It might be totally a vanity post, for all I can tell. Origin of binomial name

One source says that the name Bonasa was used to apply to this bird in 1760 by Brisson and Martinet. I am not an expert in this field, but should this be noted? Poslfit (talk) 15:57, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
