Gold medals

Does the academy list the winners of its gold medals on-line? Doing so would make verification of claims simple. Many organizations list winners of their prizes on-line, and in doing so increase the profile of the competitions. For example, can the gold medal that MacTutor says Alexander Wilson (astronomer) won in 1771 be verified. Perhaps the Olaf Pederson book Lovers of Learning gives a list, but that book is not in my library.Rgdboer (talk) 23:50, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Their homepage does not seem to contain anything but the bare essentials. I have the Lovers of Learning book and I just checked, there is no list in that one either. However in its sources it lists a 5 volume Danish work on the history of the society, A. Lomholt (ed.), Det Kongelige Danske Videnskabernes Selskab 1742-1942 - Samlinger til Selskabets historie (Collections in the history of the society), 1942-1973, which probably contains the information you are looking for. According to the information given in Lovers of Learning Volume III of the above work contains information about "special publications, scientific and scholarly projects, list of Prize Essays". --Saddhiyama (talk) 07:35, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have volume III of that work but volume I pp. 69-73 has a list of gold medal recipients and Alexander Wilson is listed under 1772. (18 February 1772 to be precise, according to p. 67.) So it seems MacTutor is only almost right. Peter Alberti (talk) 15:37, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Meeting in the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters is a monumental 1897 oil-on-canvas group portrait by Peder Severin Krøyer, depicting the membership of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters during one of its meetings in the Prince's Mansion in Copenhagen. Commissioned by the Carlsberg Foundation, the painting measures 266.7 by 519.4 centimetres (105.0 in × 204.5 in), and hangs in the Academy's building in central Copenhagen.
