This phrase ("Room & Board") has a lot of meaning. I'm surprised that the article for it is so short. Please expand!

etymology

Is it true that the "board" comes from centuries ago when people were too poor to afford tables, so the would offer a room to stay in and a "board" to put on your lap to eat your food off of? 122.49.159.164 (talk) 19:30, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

US county jails
