Rougier ruled that it was was beyond reasonable doubt
In a civil case? Surely this would be ultra vires - the burden of proof in civil cases is on the balance of probabilities )i.e. more probable than not), not beyond reasonable doubt (which is the burden in criminal cases).
- Let me quote the obituary: "Although he was sitting in a civil court, Rougier ruled that "it was beyond reasonable doubt that Brookes had plainly murdered Lynn"."[1] -- !! ?? 23:36, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
