Anderson vs Capcom films?

The general public wouldn't know who Anderson is. Wouldn't it be more appropriate for Live-Action vs CGI/Animated Films?KiasuKiasiMan 10:34, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Resident Evil 5

Shooting has already begun, Milla has tweeting about shooting many times. Aswell as Milla and Sienna, Resident Evil star Colin Salmon tweeted he is returning. They may be shooting something, but principal photography is not planned until October 10. However, I do have the article already laid out here if anyone wants to help contribute to it. Why was The animated films article created?

I'm posting a comment here since I don't know if anyone will see the post at Resident Evil (animated film series). I wish to again ask what was the harm in having all the films in a single article in the first place? The current animated film series "article" is quite terrible. There's numerous sub-sections, each only two sentences long with no plot summaries or anything else of real substance. No summaries of critical reception, no notable cast-members or creative persons listed. If this material had a need to migrate anywhere, surely it should have gone to the main Resident Evil (series) article as it shares the plot canon with the games. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter year of release.

This has been going back and forth for a while now, so we need to decide which way we're going to do this. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was released in Japan in December of 2016, and was released in North America in January of 2017. Which year do we want to assign to the film? It seems to me that wherever it was released first, regardless of the territory, should be the year of release. After all, this is not just the Wikipedia for the United States. Country

One editor added country information to the Infobox, then another editor deleted the country information with the edit summary "unsourced, and this has been discussed on the talk page many times".

I don't see any discussion on this page, so I'm adding this note to say I agree that it is probably best to leave out the country details since it is difficult to ensure they are correct. I'm fairly sure that there have been discussion about this on the talk pages of the individual articles, just not here on the franchise page. -- 109.79.177.186 (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Looking through the article history, you're right. I'm pretty sure it was discussed somewhere, though. I just can't remember where. Anyway, yes, the countries has been a source of disruption for a while. Some day, we should go through the individual articles and fix them per {{infobox film}} ("If there is a conflict of information in various reliable sources, then list only the common published nations."), but just dumping a bunch of citation the article works for now. The worst case scenario is an editor who decides to simply add a bunch of unsourced countries here. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:03, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Resident Evil (film series) → Resident Evil (film franchise) – This article no longer covers a film series, it covers a film franchise, due to the fact that 2021's film is not part of the film series, it is separate from the Alice continuity of the Milla Jovovich / Paul W.S.   • Comment: No strong feelings on this, but does a series necessarily imply continuity? Article titles aside, I would describe the James Bond films as a series of films, and Final Fantasy as a series of games, even though they don't all share the same continuity.     • There are two EON Productions James Bond film series, the one before Daniel Craig, and Daniel Craig's films. Daniel Craig's films belong to one continuity. The films preceding Craig are in a loose continuity. So it is also a film franchise. Though that article resides at List of James Bond films. Batman is also a film franchise, but that article resides at Batman in film. Rocky (franchise) has multiple film series (Creed and Rocky) and non-film properties. Batman is composed of the Burton/Shoemaker series, the Nolan series, and other non-series films; in addition there are the entries that appear in the DCEU which isn't a Batman franchise but a DC franchise film. There's Alien (franchise) composed of the Alien film series, the AVP film series, the David film series; and non-film properties. The The Conjuring Universe is a film franchise that has its own proper name, and a boatload of separate film series. Halloween (franchise) has several branched off series, and non-film properties. Since Resident Evil itself is a greater encompassing franchise with non-film properties, this article isn't the Resident Evil franchise article. -- 65.92.247.17 (talk) 23:11, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm going to oppose this RM – "(film series)" is correct, and "(franchise)" is correct, but "(film franchise)" is totally non-standard. I see no real problem with leaving this at "(film series)" – it is a "series of films", even if the latest one is a "reboot" of sorts. Note also that Resident Evil (franchise) redirects to the base Resident Evil article which covers the entire franchise, including the two extant TV series.     • "franchise" is not correct with this article only covers films, not the entire franchise. So the corresponding version for film would therefore be "film franchise", since this is not a series of films, as the 2021 film is not part of the series. Just as the 2000s Battlestar Galactica is not part of the same series as the 1970s Battlestar Galactica TV series. And Ocean's 11/12/13/8 are not in the same series as the Rat Pack's Eleven -- 65.92.247.17 (talk) 03:41, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      None of which gets to my point that "(film franchise)" is never used to disambiguate. "(film series)" is fine in this case. If there were going to be more films in the "reboot" continuity, which it looks like there won't be, we could discuss changing the article to Resident Evil in film.
