"Informal divisions" - Clarifications as of 19 May 2015

The following clarifications are raised. Firstly, the line Adelaide Plains has supplemented by the words "Also known as Lower North". A read of the article suggests that the supplementary statement would only apply to the northern part and possibly the central part of the "plains". Secondly, Limestone Coast which is the relatively new name for what was known as the "Lower South East" or the "South East" in some contexts, is the name of the SA Government region as well as a tourism region and wine region to make things complicated. The appropriate approach in this case would be to use the term "Lower South East" which is still in use in lieu of "Limestone Coast". Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 04:17, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think "lower north" is used very commonly. If it is, it definitely wouldn't include anywhere south of the Gawler River, and probably not that far south, but I'd expect Adelaide Plains to include Virginia, Angle Vale and Waterloo Corner market gardens, if not including the urban areas east and north of Bridge Road, Portrush Road and Cross Road. The Adelaide Plains article says it goes all the way south to the Onkaparinga River, which seems to be supported by the category too.
I think it's worth mentioning "South East", "Upper South East" and "Lower South East". They may not be used any more, but they certainly were up until a decade or two ago, and I don't think they meant exactly the same as what "Limestone Coast" means now. I think "The South East" would be exactly the same as "Upper South East and Lower South East". However, I'd consider Pinnaroo and Lameroo are in the South East but not the Limestone Coast. Maybe Limestone Coast only replaced the Lower South East, and Murray Mallee was either created or expanded to cover the Upper South East. --Scott Davis Talk 15:05, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You folks have done well - you might want to have a look at the Tasmanian and Western Australian region articles - we have had in both states - usages that overlap and some which are obscure, or created by government agencies that hardly relate to peoples usage... the peoples usage is always worth a check on trove for the terms, youll be suprised by how many unexpected usages end up in newspaper titles/headings of articles from the 20th century...
