Talk:Red-rumped agouti

Common name should be just "Agouti"

The species is widely distributed in Central and South America, and guide books such as Louise Emmet's use "agouti." --Wloveral (talk) 03:02, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are many agouti species, not just this one (which isn't found in Central America). I presume you are talking about Louise Emmons's Neotropical Rainforest Mammals and she uses red-rumped agouti, as do virtually all other books that include Dasyprocta leporina.
