Ralph Macchio (actor) → Ralph Macchio – Most people looking for Ralph Macchio will be looking for the star of the Karate Kid series, not some comic book editor. A disambig page shouldn't have only 2 links to short articles like Ralph Macchio does, everyone needs an extra click.

Ralph Maccio Syndrome?

If this is a real syndrome it should be properly sourced. All I could find was a reference in the Urban dictionary, hardly a factual database Djhache 21:03, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ralph's age

Star?

Macchio first became a star when he appeared in television commercials for products such as Bubble Yum and Dr Pepper.

Ry Cooder and Steve Vai. It depends on which song. The final "cutting heads was played by Steve Vai. I have noi idea where the magazine is that I found that in. Might have been a web article... Macchio's name

Actually the right pronounciation of the name is MA-Key-O. And there's a funny story about it: "When Joel Siegel first did a review for The Karate Kid (1984), he pronounced his name "MA-Key-O" instead of "Ma-chee-o". The latter pronunciation was the way Ralph Macchio pronounced his name, but the former is the proper Italian pronunciation. Siegel was called in at 4:00am the day of his review's airing to correct the pronunciation. He later expressed annoyance at being called in at 4:00am in the morning because Macchio "didn't know how to pronounce his own name." Would you please correct it ? Actually, in point of fact, if Mr. Macchio had Joel Siegel called in at 4a.m. to pronounce the name his way it seems he has established his personal preference. Besides, it's rather hypocritical of a man who doesn't pronounce his name ethnically either (it's Zeegle). Padillah (talk) 16:44, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The source would be the Italian language page on Wikipedia, seriously (see the 'writing system' section). CH has the sound of /K/ when followed by E or I. This is common knowledge. Even if Mr Macchio likes to pronounce his surname incorrectly, he is not the only Macchio out there. I think this is more to do with the American bastardisation of Italian names and words, where the pronunciation of CH and C in Italian is often switched. appropriateness of "In popular culture" section

I'm not a big fan of section blanking, but I'm also vehemently against trivia sections so... I thought I'd bring the question here. I don't see anything significant about any item currently in the "In popular culture" section of the article. The whole section needs to go. Agree - it seems like fluff and just serves as a dumping place for "Random character said his name on [insert random TV show here]" or "Random Band mentioned him briefly in their song 'X'". Martial arts training

An editor wants to add the following assertion after the reference to the Karate Kid movies: "His martial arts training was done by Thomas Carrol." After trying to do it without a source, he added this. That page doesn't say anything about Macchio, but there is another page in the magazine that does here. It's not much of an assertion, though ("Other celebrities who trained with LaPuppet include Ralph Macchio (Daniel in the Karate Kid movies)". I tried searching the Black Belt Magazine website, and I didn't find anything about Carroll and Macchio. I only found articles about Macchio and Pat Johnson, who apparently choreographed some of the sequences in the movies. See here.

Lapuppet is Carrol. It was a nickname he took on. I guess you could use Carrol for Macchio article, and Carrol and Johnson for the karate kid movie article. I guess you could think about it like this. In the move 300 the Spartans were trained to get in shape by a certain trainer, but for the movie sequences a choreographer was used to show them what they wanted them to do. 64.206.113.70 (talk) 03:42, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The information in the Macchio article is unsourced. The information in the Dancing with the Stars article about Macchio seems to conflict. For the moment, I'm going to add a tag to the Macchio article. If no one fixes it, I may look for sources about what he did. I can't find your quote above ("Week 9 ..."), but I finally found the right article, Dancing with the Stars (U.S. TV series), not Dancing with the Stars, and in one of the tables it says that Macchio finished 4th, which tallies with what the Macchio article says.
