In my area (Ayrshire, Scotland) most people use "Rain, rain go to Spain and never come back again"
Is it worth mentioning reference in modern creative works?
I was listening to Nine Inch Nails album from 1989 Pretty Hate Machine and was struck that the outro to "Down in It" is just repeating "rain rain go away / come again some other day". I wouldn't want to create a needlessly trivial reference section but was wondering if there are many other notable examples of the nursery rhyme finding its way into modern works? The essay I linked does say "passing mentions of the subject in books, television or film dialogue, or song lyrics should be included only when that mention's significance is itself demonstrated with secondary sources." (and I do not know of such sources for the passing mention in "Down in It"). I did edit the "Down In It" article to link to this one, though.
