Academic journal vs magazine

My edit on this article was reverted by Sovkhozniki. Let me therefore give some more background. We normally reserve the expression "academic journal" for a peer-reviewed academic publication. Of course, there are "journals" like the Wall Street Journal that even have the word in their title. Still, nobody would call the WSJ anything else than a newspaper. The same is going on here: those sources that I can access call this a "journal", but nobody is claiming that this was peer-reviewed and nobody will call this an "academic journal". We use the term "magazine" for any periodical that is not a newsletter, newspaper, or academic journal. --Randykitty (talk) 22:36, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

You have ignored the reason given for the reversion, which is that the sources provided call it a journal. As Reliable Sources go, so goes Wikipedia. Certainly, we generally think of "journal" as referring to an academic peer-reviewed journal, but that is not the only type of journal that exists (and, no, I'm not referring to the WSJ or the Ladies Home Journal) - there are non-academic journals (which is what I believe Race Traitor was) and also non-peer-reviewed academic journals and even predatory journals. Nowhere on Wikipedia -- as far as I am aware -- is it required that "journal" must refer to a peer-reviewed academic journal. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:47, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
