(Prohibition in Canada)

Add Information

I made a bunch of edits to the page that I think have simplified and improved it. There is a paragraph in the repeal section that describes prohibition in Canada as a success, there should be a better discussion of the failure of prohibition. It should also say how prohibition was enforced, and photographs would be a good addition --Person91 (talk) 17:57, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any more informmation out there?

Prohibition in Quebec

The last paragraph of the section "Origins" states that Quebec never implemented prohibition. The first paragraph of the next section states that Quebec was the province to have enforced prohibition for the shortest period of time. So did Quebec have prohibition or not? It may be that one or the other statements is simply poorly worded, but as it is there's a contradiction that needs to be resolved. Stampimo 06:37, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Needs tons of work

Very poorly done. Were any of the major texts on prohibition consulted?

Also: What about the western provinces? Rumrunning on Puget Sound between Vancouver and Seattle, and the Alberta runrunners... Not to mention that BC was the first province to repeal prohibition and gets nary a mention...

Relation to US prohibition?

How did the Canadian prohibitions interact with the US one? APW (talk) 08:17, 5 November 2009 (UTC) Quebec never did have prohibition although there is controversy of it having a short period of time with it.[reply]

Reverted

I reverted a lot fo good edits as in making those edits the formatting was getting really messed up and you where deleting valid information and making alternate claims. Claiming prohibition was due to WW1 when there is a lot of material on how it was implemented earlier with previous votes is obviously incorrect. Maybe with a bit more care those references and edits can be used, but it had created such a mess of the article it was almost impossible to unpick the deletions etc. All edits are stored in the history if you wish to retrieve the text for re-integration.Canterbury Tail talk 20:36, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alberta Information Conflict

This article states that prohibition ended in 1924 in alberta however the United Farmers of Alberta article says it ended in 1923. I don't know which one is right or if either misworded their information but there is a conflict of information. Smile =D (talk) 19:34, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.abheritage.ca/famous5/achievements/prohibition.html states that, "It ended in 1923, also as a result of a plebiscite," so there it is I guess.Smile =D (talk) 19:44, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your one is referenced, the 1924 one isn't. So feel free to change it and insert the reference. Canterbury Tail talk 20:26, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reference attributed as the source for "dry communities" in Alberta does not make any such mention, so I am removing the section. Feel free to add again if it can be properly sourced.User:Dolovis
