Smoking, drinking

Please mention if prisoners have the right to smoke cigarettes, or even drink liquor, in various countries. Jidanni (talk) 06:49, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Votes for prisoners

I am surprised to find no more mention of this than one line. It is a hot topic in the UK at the moment. Myrvin (talk) 19:51, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

External links

I just blanked out the external links section under the grounds that each of those corresponds to an advocacy site designed to press for one specific side of the issue. However, it may be that one or two of those would be suitable; Human Rights Watch has a pretty high stature, so their site is probably okay. ACLU also is a good source, but it suffers from being specifically US based and I know that some people think the ACLU is an extremist group. If anyone wants to add one or more back in, feel free, but keep in mind the requirements of WP:EL. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:08, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good points. I'm in favour of restoring Human Rights Watch as well as ACLU. Opinions that ACLU is extremist are pretty fringe. The vast majority of mainstream media and scholarly sources don't define the organization that way. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I restored both, and added Amnesty International, and moved them into ext links section. Pls feel free to add/remove what you see fit. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:28, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Improvements

Some good goals for this page would be to develop individual sections for some of the topics listed in 'See Also' which introduce and link to those main pages. That would help shorten the 'See Also' section as well. I've been expanding some of the international links, but that's meant the page has wound up more like a list than an article, so more text sections are definitely needed. I'd love to get more written on:

There could also be more information on the legal/philosophical thinking behind prisoners' rights (using the Right to health page as a guide). I'll work on some of these things if I have time, but I'd love help! Thanks xx Coffeespoons (talk) 18:43, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
