she wasnt baha'i

if you read Priceless pearl or God passes by, you will see that Hearst considered joining the Baha'i faith, but she changed her mind after several unscrupulous individuals asked her for money, claiming it was for `Abd al-Baha'. afterwards, she severed all ties to the faith -- making an exception when `Abd al-Baha' came to visit california and stayed with her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.108.232.66 (talk) 13:14, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Religion

There are apparently at least two conflicting suggestions regarding the religious preference of Pheobe Apperson Hearst.

It seems that mainstream biographical sources describe her as a Presbyterian while Bahai sources describe her as a member of the Bahai Faith.

I have removed both versions of the paragraph as it existed in the article to below so that they may be discussed.

Version 1

 • She was a member of the Bahá'í Faith. She briefly travelled to Akko and Haifa in Palestine (modern day Israel) on pilgrimage, arriving on December 14, 1889.<ref>{{citation | title = Introduction to New and Alternative Religions in America | first = Eugene V. | last = Gallagher | first2 = W. Further, the immediately previous section on this talk page includes additional mainstream biographic sources and reasoning in favor of the suggestion that she was not a Bahai. DvonD (talk) 03:25, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For each statement in the article I have included references that are not Baha'i sources: The book Introduction to New and Alternative Religions in America from Greenwood Publishing Group is not a Baha'i source, similarly The Origins of the Bahá'í Community of Canada from Wilfrid Laurier University Press and Persia by a Persian: Personal Experiences, Manners, Customs, Habits, Religious and Social Life in Persia from E. Stock publishers. Based on the Wikipedia policies of verifiability, this information deserves to be in the article. If you have other source include in the article, along with the dates, since she could have been Presbyterian and then converted. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 12:34, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
