Shapiro, Strax and Venet found that clinical breast exams (physical examination of the breast) and mammograms together resulted in a reduction of mortality yet clinical exams are ignored. This is a not unusual but serious oversight for publication here because the first sign of breast cancer is a palpable lump or lesion most frequently reported by the patient. Because no revenue is generated by Clinical Breast Exams industry there is no financial value to industry, lobbyists, wealthy charities, or the public sector despite the although widely accepted data suggest strongly that the earliest sign of breast cancer is a lump discovered by hand not a breast x-ray (mammogram) 72.196.98.66 (talk) 20:21, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
