Also used in the production of a specialized methamphetamine.

Alkylation/acylation

The reaction of benzene with chloroacetone (an alkyl chloride) is an alkylation reaction. For comparison, an analogous acylation reaction would be the reaction of benzene with acetyl chloride to give acetophenone. -- Ed (Edgar181) 14:39, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I plan to improve this article by adding an image of the synthetic pathway for the synthesis of phenylacetone. Currently, the synthesis pathway only uses the chemical names to indicate the reactants and products. By showing the synthetic pathway using chemical molecules, it will make it easier for readers to understand the synthesis pathway. I also plan on adding a citation under the “In popular culture” section. Currently, this section only mentions that Walter White used enantiomeric variation in Breaking Bad, but it does not mention which episode mentions this.
