Talk:Party bike

The party bike was invented long before 1997

The beer bike was not invented in the Netherlands in 1997. This story goes back to an advertising booklet for a Dutch bicycle café and ended up in an American sensational book about crazy bikes - both publications without any scientific claims.

A little test on the Delpher Dutch newspaper history website yields results like a beer bike festival and party bikes for rent in 1987; it is clear that the beer bike was already commonplace in the Netherlands in 1987. One would like to know more about the situation in other countries. Glatisant (talk) 09:59, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal of Conference Bike into Party bike

I hereby propose to merge Conference Bike into Party bike. Both are multi-passenger bikes powered by passengers facing each other, used primarily for tourism and team building. The conference bike, as pictured and described appears to be a specific example of the broader category of party bikes, but the names can probably interchange. The party bike article says that party bikes can be with or without serving. Looking at the pictures, the described "conference bike" appears to be smaller and more stable variant, but basically the same concept. Sauer202 (talk) 09:20, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The history and evolution of these two types of bicycles are completely different. They were developed in different times, and for different reasons. Merging the pages would undermine the unique context of each type of bike. Jammmie999 (talk) 21:38, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge; a trivial variant. Merge for reasons of short text, context and as alternative to deletion (WP:NPRODUCT not met). Klbrain (talk) 14:49, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
