The 'article delete' templates were quite inconsistently applied to various University of Pittsburgh buildings, for the reason, "unnotable structure". Some less notable buildings and articles did not have them, so I have removed all those I saw, until such a time as they can be applied judiciously. In addition, is "unnotable structure" a reason to remove a page? --71.240.80.248 11:05, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Succession boxes

Succession boxes exist on every University of Pittsburgh building page and lead the wikipedia user through the buildings for which articles exist in order of their construction. They help collect the articles together in a logical format giving flow to this subset of Pitt-related pages, as well as providing a useful tool for Wikisurfing this particular subject. The succession boxes also provide a good tool for examining the historical process of the building of Pitt's Oakland campus as well as, at least partially, of the building of the Schenley Farms Historic District. The boxes, thus far, have been well received, and by consensus do not seem to fall under characterization of "unnecessary clutter", especially when considering they have survived for some time on articles with much higher editing rates (such as Litchfield Towers, Cathedral of Learning, Heinz Chapel, and Peterson Events Center). However, it certainly is valid that pages that have two separate buildings listed (like the Crabtree annex section in the Parran Hall article) can lead to a less than ideal layout for the page, however this may improve as information on the buildings is fleshed out and leads to less bunching. Certainly this can be worth discussion though. Claiming succession boxes violate WP:OR is extremely tough to understand since all construction dates are referenced in the respective articles and the succession links are clearly a compilation of information based on dates, that by their nature, can't be construed in any way as encroaching on WP:POV. In addition, similar lists of Pitt buildings organized by dates exist such as the one here. CrazyPaco (talk) 21:42, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought though, I have removed the boxes for the annexes as they are generally unremarkable on their own and they seem dilute from the succession box experience. CrazyPaco (talk) 22:57, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
