Practical applications

A bit sad that paper art does not exist on its own, but maybe not entirely wrong. The edges of traditional crafts and modern art often mix, though not always.

  - Central Europe (very prominent in Poland and Czech lands, also distinctive variants in Germany and Switzerland)
  - Chinese
  - Mexican/Central America
papier mache sculpture
pulp art, 'a la Chuck Close (earlier examples exist)
"Artist's books" often attempt some tour de force regarding an innovation in using paper
paper balloons (remember the Mongolfiers ran a paper mill?)
paper lamps - folk traditions in Japan, Albuquerque, and also modern work like Sandro Tiberi's

Reverted good-faith edits to intro

I reverted this entire slew of edits going back to January 10, primarily by 104.35.148.163 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 106.71.38.220 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) / 106.70.7.64 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) (with some attempts at cleaning up the changes in between). These edits were made in good faith but turned the intro section into a mess without adding any actual information except for on the seemingly non-notable practice of "thrembling." -Elmer Clark (talk) 18:49, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
