Contradictory

We need a source for the comment "In 1482, Bosnia was completely added to Ottoman Lands. Bosnians did not complain about being under Ottoman Sovereignty because there was already a sectarian conflict going in Bosnia, and because Mehmed II gave converters to Islam a tax break".

This quote goes against the rest of the article since only a few paragraphs before it says "However, resistance continued throughout the country, mostly in the north and west, so that the Ottomans were only able to install their first administration, called Eyalet of Bosnia in 1527". -- barababa — Preceding unsigned comment added by Barababa (talk • contribs) 19:00, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Proposed Merge

I disagree

I do not think these two subjects should be merged since the Russian Wars were seperate to those fought vs the rest of Europe.

It would be folly to merge the two. The Austrians were fighting the Ottomans before the Russians. The Russians were primarily on the offensive, whilst the Austrians on the defensive. Besides, the European-Turk wars began well before the Fall of Constantinople, let alone the formation of Russia!

The Ottoman siege of Malta, of the Island of Rhodes and the Naval Battles of Lepanto had nothing to do with Russia. Malta is a life time away from Russia.

If Turkey counts as part of Europe, what about all the battles between the Romans and the Ottomans in Anatolia? In Asia Minor? Believe me, no Tsar took part in those!

It would be like merging the Thirty years war in Europe with the First world War. They have a very loose link, and around the same battle front, but they should not be merged!

I think there is much more detail to the European wars then is said in this article. Keep it seperate for now.

Venice, Rhodes, Crete, Bulgaria, Serbia, MALTA.

Need I say more? I suppose Venice is a part of Russia then?

How many Turks Dracula's armies killed...

I protest at the removal. What nation, are we exactly 'debasing'? The fact is, the Turks were unstoppable, and no man with such little military or financial resources could defeat such an army. Dracula was the man's nickname. I really see no point in its removal. War is war. You try to kill as many of the enemy as possible. The enemy for Dracula happened to be the Turks. He killed many, good for him, bad for the Turks and such is war.

1462-1483: European campaigns

This small section of the article appears not up to the standard of the rest. For example: Did the Hungarian King imprison Vlad at the behest of Fatih II as is suggested? Who was Fatih II? Is he the same as the red-linked Fatih the Conqueror? This appears to contradict Vlad III the Impaler anyway. Also is "Bogdan" a place as implied here, or a person, as Vlad's article says? Russia is Europe

If you don't merge Russia and the European-Turkish wars at least include Russia in the belligerents here... It is completely senseless to write about Russia in the content but not in the belligerents and leaders info. Since when is Russia not part of Europe? If it is because Russia's first war with Turkey was in the mid 16th century then that's a weak excuse, when did Poland join in the wars? Not much different time then Russia. Kingdom of France, 1536–, on the Ottomans' side?

The stat boxes show that the Kingdom of France and the King of France were on the Ottomans' side from 1536 onward. There's nothing in the article that either (1) says what happened in 1536 to cause France to switch side or (2) substantiates the notion that France ever fought for or with the Ottomans, much less on a consistent basis fromo 1536 onward. Can someone please explain or remove the "1536" business in the stat boxes? Thank you. Holy (talk) 23:06, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

France signed a treaty with the Ottoman Empire at that time. There's a Wiki article about it Franco-Ottoman alliance

King James IV

In the box "Commanders and Leaders" is King James of Scotland.

Why is he there?

He's not mentioned in the article. Neither is Scotland, for that matter.

I've clicked on his link and searched both "Turk" and "Ottoman" and there's nothing there.

As a Scot I'd be fascinated to read his contribution to the wars against the Turks Montalban (talk) 04:01, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

I've also found no connection between James IV and the Ottomans, so I've added a 'citation needed' tag to him in the infobox. King Philip V of Spain (talk) 11:43, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
