No copyvio

This article is (apparently) not a copyvio from the Optical Networks article, since User:Comsign contributed the material, and asserts that he is the author of that article and has the right to license it for use here. --Srleffler 04:27, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OADM vs ADM

The last part of the article says: "Although both have add/drop functionality, OADMs are distinct from add-drop multiplexers." I mean... it says OADM are diferrent that "add-drop multiplexers", but the link is to the same article... there's something wrong there, isn't it?--Dhcpy (talk) 07:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The link is not to the same article. This is Optical add-drop multiplexer, and the link is to add-drop multiplexer. Not the same article.--Srleffler (talk) 01:32, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Both articles mention that OADM is not ADM, but neither explains the difference, since from the definition of each they seem to be extremely similar, if not the same. Can someone write a section explaining the difference between the two? Zylorian (talk) 19:41, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is still a mystery. A note at Talk:Add-drop multiplexer suggests that an ADM operates in the time domain while an OADM operates in the frequency (color) domain. The one source in Add-drop multiplexer indicates it is a SDH or Sonet thing. ~Kvng (talk) 14:09, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
