Merge proposal

Disagree. Omega and LuaTeX are distinct programs with different goals. While LuaTeX has many of Omegas features, its inclusion of Lua is a major step beyond Omega. Iff we want to merge LuaTeX at all, it should be included in pdfTeX.--Oneiros (talk) 15:58, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree as well. One may shorten the paragraph about LuaTeX in Omega, but the two share almost nothing apart from TeX itself and the basic idea to be able to typeset any language. Also, Omega is dead, while LuaTeX is being actively developed. --Mojca Miklavec (talk) 23:36, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LuaTeX is related to pdfTeX, not Omega. The sole reason why we included some elements of Omega (or more precisely its stable cousin Aleph) is that we needed its bidirectional capabilities for the Oriental TeX project that is funding part of the development of LuaTeX. Also, many subsystems were rewritten anyway. So, I disagree too, and being a core team member I suggest to remove this proposal. --Hans Hagen NL (talk) 16:09, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
