Article Assessment for WikiProject Anatomy

Hello. I am a member of WikiProject Anatomy, a Wikipedia wide project that maintains and improves articles that fall under the scope of anatomy. Since your article has fallen under our scope, I have placed the correct templates on this talk page for verification. Upon review of this article, I'd like to make a few points, as shown:

  • Assess articles with class and importance factors
  • WP:MED does not cover anatomy, tag removed

Intro definition

In line with all other definitions, including Wictionary, I have changed the first sentence from "Neuroanatomy is the study of the anatomical organization of the brain" to "Neuroanatomy is the study of the anatomical organization of the nervous system"
American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: 1. The branch of anatomy that deals with the nervous system. 2. The neural structure of a body part or organ: the neuroanatomy of the eye.

Encarta® World English Dictionary, North American Edition: 1. The structure of the nervous system. 2. Branch of anatomy that studies the structure of the nervous system.

Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary, 11th Edition: The anatomy of nervous tissue and the nervous system.

Wictionary: 1. (anatomy) The anatomy of the nervous system. 2. (anatomy) The structure of the nerves of a specific organ or organism.

Webster's New World College Dictionary, 4th Ed.: A branch of anatomy dealing with the nervous system.

add orientation / planes of section?

seeing as the article on anatomical terms of location is generally a mess, and particularly bad on the (admittedly confusing) issue of human neuroanatomy, i propose adding a section here for the terms of orientation and planes of section (coronal/horizontal/saggital, dorsal/anterior, etc) and, critically, editing other neuroscience-related articles to direct here instead of to the above-mentioned page. what say you all? Hmm. I certainly see your point, but whether this article is the place for it is a tough call. However, I think you should go ahead and write it if you want to -- even if it ends up somewhere else, it will end up being useful. Looie496 (talk) 21:25, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gross Organization of the Brain

There should be a section that discusses the gross organization of the brain. This would include all of the major cortical and subcortical structures, the brainstem, and the cerebellum. There's no way one cannot include a section such as this. There should be a section that addresses white and grey matter. Mdwilliams2 (talk) 18:01, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
