Use of Nanson's method

"Preference with the smallest majority"
If a Condorcet winner exists, they will be elected. If not, (there is a Condorcet cycle) then the preference with the smallest majority will be eliminated.
What's meant by "preference with the smallest majority?" This sounds a lot like a description of ranked pairs, except RP only drops preferences with the smallest majority that create a cycle. But I doubt that's what's meant by "dropping the smallest majority." Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 22:36, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
