Sources!?

This page is full of inaccuracies. My previous experience editing on here means that I am totally unwilling to try to compete with whomever thinks this is their article. The history of munches is easily found and researched and verified. this entry is another reason why I do not trust wikipedia as a source of information. If there is genuine interest in trying to get this article up to speed I will help n=but I will not enter into another editing war with neophyte "no it alls".Economic Refugee (talk) 13:47, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I just liberally peppered the article with "^{[citation needed]}"s where I felt like it could use them. Apparently this page has existed without any citations since 2008? Remarkable! Munch is a common term in BDSM circles, I've read many books and articles that use the term and define it. So why not toss up some sources? Even if they won't totally pass the serious-monger wikieditors, it's better to show that the term munch is pervasive enough to warrant an article. I'll try to summon some references up, but I don't usually do this kind of wiki editing. So drop some hyperlinks for review here! Dried cherry (talk) 06:28, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This should be a subset of munches

This is a first post, so please forgive me if I inadvertently stomp on toes or transgress any guidelines.

I'll agree that the term 'munch' is often used in the BDSM and fetish community, but it is NOT exclusive to that community, as this entry implies. I'm also forced to agree that I cannot find any references that will support my opinion, however, this has been my experience for the last 25 years.

Munches were simply a group of people who chatted online, and organized offline activities, such as meeting for lunch (meeting+lunch=munch). This was also expanded to evenings as well. Other terms were used, too, such as a Get Together or GT.

With so many statements lacking citations, linked references and such, and frankly, the historical information appears to be only local, I feel this entry is entirely suspect and mostly opinion and conjecture, rather than fact. This entry should also be a subset in munches in general.

I really feel that this should be reorganized, or flagged as suspect in some way.

Here in England I've not heard munch used for a meeting or gathering or people. In my experience it is actually little used at all. What I have heard (and read) it used for is eating, as in the meaning given on Munch. Of course, I'm not speaking for everywhere. Dannman (talk) 22:45, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"BDSM" too specific

I don't edit Wikipedia often enough to be able to edit titles, but I believe the title of this should be "Munch (Kink)". I agree with the comment from Dannman that Munch isn't a very broad term, but it is broader than just the BDSM community. FetLife is the best source for munches, and information about it being a a popular site for organising Munches should probably be included in this article. Munches are directed at topics across the kink community - including BDSM, but also other topics like Femdom, Hypnosis, Petplay, and other aspects of kink. Some kink is non-sexual and does not incorporate bondage or BDSM. Imtaylor (talk) 21:57, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
