GA Review

Alright, the article is looking awesome right now, very close to GA status, but there are a few improvements that could/should be made:

  • The preceding series, Degrassi High ended in 1991, although a television movie, School's Out aired in 1992 and wrapped up the storylines of the characters - the way I see it is that commas can be like brackets, so if we're using brackets to name the mentioned "preceding series" and "television movies" then the brackets should be closed after they're opened, so we'd have something like "preceding series, Degrassi High, ended in 1991".
  • ...while also introducing a new generation of Degrassi Community School students; Emma Nelson, Manny Santos, J. T. Yorke and Toby Isaacs - I'd personally use a colon here. Your thoughts?
  • "J.T." (no space) or "J. T." (space)? Both are used, so go with one and do a quick sweep through for consistency.
  • Explaining that her friends do not approve of her boyfriend, Caitlin replies by telling her to "go for it" and forget what her friends think - this reads as if Caitlin is talking about her boyfriend; perhaps reword.
  • She goes to Toby's house, and tells him and J. T. she thinks Emma is meeting Jordan - "that she thinks..."
  • Do we need a redlink for a fictional character (Alison Hunter)? WP:RED suggests that redlinks should only be used when there is a good chance the article will be created soon and the subject's article would be notable and verifiable (and given the pattern of other Degrassi character articles, I'm inclined to think it might not be). I don't watch the show; I don't know about the character's appearances or history, so I'll leave it up to your judgment.
  • Joey overhears Keith and Alison discussing Caitlin. They flirt and... - who is flirting? There are three, maybe four, possible people who could be flirting with each other - maybe use some names here.
  • Bruce McDonald (left) directed "Mother and Child Reunion". Stephen Stohn (right) was the executive producer uses one complete sentence and therefore the second should end in a full-stop/period per WP:MOS#Captions.
  • ...being able to offer $10,000,000 - I'd say they were more than just able to, that they DID offer the money - so how about just "offering $10,000,000"? Or even "$10 million", per WP:MOSNUM#Numbers as figures or words? And should we specify that these were Canadian dollars (I'm assuming)?
  • Co-creator Schuyler and her Epitome Pictures partner and husband, Stohn served as executive producers - I'm tempted to raise my not-great comma/bracket theory again, as in "partner and husband, Stohn, served as".
  • Filming began July 3,[8] before Epitome Pictures could finalise contracts - what kind of spelling are we going for here? I've noticed the rest of the article used the American "realize" and I'm not sure if Americans/Canadians (who I think do spell things differently, but both use the "ize" not "ise" suffix - correct me if I'm wrong here!) use the spelling "finalize"...?
  • The accident in School's Out, when Wheels hit Lucy while drink-driving was discussed twice - again, the comma thing. IMO, either get rid of the first comma or add in another before "was".
  • Wheels came to the reunion to apologise to Lucy - "apologize"?
  • Spike and Caitlin were remeniscing about their high school days - change spelling mistake to "reminiscing".
  • Why in the Cast section is Sara Holmes redlinked but other names are left unlinked?
  • ...hoping to provide a group of characters the target audience of teenagers could relate to - "that the target audience..."?
  • ...something other shows of the same period and target audience such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson's Creek, were doing - I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to bring up the commas... again! The only comma in the sentence fragment is redundant by itself; either one should be added before "such as" or there shouldn't be one at all. Like brackets, these kinds of commas only make sense if there's two or none :)
  • Miriam McDonald was first auditioned in October 2000 to play Emma Nelson - I'd say "McDonald first auditioned", minus the "was", but I'll leave it up to your judgment.
  • Cassie Steele's sister, Alex Steele made her first appearance as Angela Jeremiah, Joey's six-year-old daughter - I won't give the lecture but it should be either a comma after "Steele" or none after "sister".
  • Film director Kevin Smith, who had been a fan of Degrassi from the early 1990s when he worked at a convenience store in Leonardo, New Jersey,[28] Smith has paid homage to Degrassi by making reference to it in several of his films - sentence doesn't make sense as a whole; I'd recommend simply removing the "Smith" after the reference.
  • ...Degrassi Junior High as the Television show he rather be watching - "television" with a capital and "he would rather..."?
  • As popular as 'Degrassi' was, it was still a mere cult hit in the United States - since "Degrassi" is italicised, you can get rid of the quotation marks even though it's inside a quote.
  • ...winning in the "Outstanding Achievement in a Television Series - Children's" category - use an endash as done in the lead.
  • Can you check the content of the quote box? There's a redundant quotation mark in the middle of the quote (after characters they're playing) which makes me think the first half may be the tail-end of a quote from someone working on the show...?
  • Image:Mother and Child Reunion (Degrassi).JPG needs to be low-resolution to meet the fair use criteria, and the rule of thumb around here seems to be that under 0.1 megapixels is low-res. This one here's currently at over 0.3 so some scaling down is probably necessary.
  • Okay, so after reading the entire article there's still one little thing I'm unsure about. The lead says it aired as the season finale in the U.S.. Which season? For that matter, what series? I know an episode shot as the pilot could air as the finale after the season was greenlit, but infobox says Season 1, Episode 1. Would it have made sense for this to air last in season 1? Am I just really dumb and missing something obvious here? ;)
  • I'll add a paragraph to the production section about when it aired. Basically, when it was sold to the US, the broadcaster, The N, decided not to air it immediately because they were concerned about the storyline of the internet stalker. At one time I had a reference for this, but I don't know if I'll be able to find it again. They aired it at the end of season one as the season finale. Thank you. I reduced the size somewhat. Hopefully it will be okay now. I was having real problems because as I was doing it, the thumbnail thing broke. I was going nuts on IRC for five minutes or so! Regarding the reference for the US airdate, I thought TV Guide's episode list would do the trick, but it has the Canadian dates for the first season for some reason. Theres a couple of fansites with the right dates [1], but they not WP:RSs. The only other thing I can think of is using {{citation}} for the TV Guide magazine that came out for that week, but I don't know the issue date or number. Do you have any suggestions? Damn. Thanks for taking care of the image, but we're still stuck on the US broadcast ref. No, we couldn't use non-reliable sources, and no, we couldn't really cite the physical magazine if we didn't have issue numbers or dates. I looked it up on a subscription database but it's Australian and all I could find is confirmation that this episode did air as the first in Australia :) but that doesn't really help. Did the reference provide the airdate for Australia? I've had real trouble finding the Australian airdates for seasons 1 and 2. Could you provide me with the link and I can add the date to this article as it already mentions the DVD being released in Australia. I think I may have found an issue date and number for the relevant TV guide magazine for the week in question. There's someone on Flickr who collects the guides and uploads images of the covers. Okay, that's awesome if you can get the TV Guide reference. And I can't actually give you the Australian airdates link because it's a subscription-based website and the link only works when you're logged in but I could give you the citation details to use. The episode aired on August 1, 2002 on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) network; citation - The Australian, 2002-08-01, pg. M26 (no author). Thanks for your patience. I managed to get the issue and volume numbers, and date for the TV Guide reference so I added that. I've also added the reference for Australia, thank you. You don't happen to have the article title though, do you? By "subscription-based", do you mean you have to pay for the subscription, or just sign up? If it is throught payment I might have to call on you again for some airdates for other episodes, I hope that's okay :) Otherwise I'd really appreciate the link just for my own research. (←) TV Guide reference is great. And yeah, it's subscription-by-payment. And I'd be happy to look up any other things for you, though it only keeps records of actual newspaper/magazine articles so I could only give you dates, etc of episodes that were individually reviewed. Oh, and the article was called "Switch on" - sorry, can't believe I missed that!
