Drug Therapy
I could not find anything on the CDC web site or in the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and therapy with regards to treatment. What I want to state comes from the Textbook of Bacteriology, 17th edition (1941) by Jordan and Burrows on page 411. So here is the quote:
"Treatment with 0.25 per cent zinc sulfate solution is specific and produces a rapid cure, while silver salts are without effect."
Keep in mind that this book was published just prior to the advent of antibiotics. They had sulfa drugs, but I do not know if they had the ophthalmic dosage forms. Zinc Sulfate normally is not used today as an antibacterial, this seems to be a forgotten drug.
Since how bacteria are categorized changes greatly over time I must mention this above quote was under the heading of "The Moax-Axenfeld Diplobacillus (Hemophilus Duplex). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ribazole (talk • contribs) 04:43, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
