Cleanup

Since March, 2005, someone has added a great deal of content which reads like it was copied from a tourist promotional guide, except that the WP edits include misspelling and occasionally what are (apparently) missing word(s). Although I contributed content related to Carl G. Fisher, the subject of a WP featured article, I am not familiar enough with the local information to edit these other changes to meet WP standards, and I am reluctant to revert because so many edits were made. Perhaps someone familiar with Montauk can bring this article into balance and do the subject justice. Vaoverland 06:50, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to go ahead and move the offending parts to this talk page so that they are preserved but not up on the main page. I read them and felt just a little sick. They're quite gratuitous and obviously not up to the Wikipedia standards.--MUSpud2 04:39, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the source, but I suspect we would have had a copyright viiolation as well. Good changes, in my opinion. I will remove the cleanup flag I placed. Vaoverland 07:08, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The second and third paragraphs about the litigation in the 1850s are barely intelligible reading like they were lifted from an archaic 19th century legal opinion replete with county recorder's references to book and drawer. They barely make sense at all.

Removed content

Below is the gratuitous travel brochure filth I took off the main page. --MUSpud2 04:42, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the material from the talk page here. It was not particularly helpful and interfered with monitoring talk.Americasroof (talk) 23:24, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Montauk Monster

Recently a strange creature was found on one of the beaches here given the name montauk moster, its all over the net. there should be a section here about it or it should get its own article under cryptyds or extraterestreals.--Sonicobbsessed (talk) 01:58, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Written like an advertisement

This article is written like a travel guide/advertisement and needs to be rewritten. Why should an article on a place have content like this?Avman89 (talk) 01:22, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Be sure to drive by the Stone Castle at 34 Foxboro Rd in Montauk and built by local famed artisan builder Robert Padden. [2] The views and gardens are beat by no other spot in the area. Another of his creations is close by at 114 Glenmore Avenue, the Montauk Hill House which sits high upon a hill viewing the great Atlantic and takes overnight guests year-round.
