Vietnam use questioned

I have no personal knowledge, but the start of production date of 1973 seems to make the distribution of surplus vehicles to Vietnam implausible given the withdrawal of US ground forces in 1972 and the demise of the Republic of Vietnam in April 1975. Is this conflated with other customers or are there records confirming this?

The Philippines sounds entirely credible as their road infrastructure would favour the use of small all-wheel drive vehicles with a Willys heritage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pekkapihlajasaari (talkcontribs) 13:55, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Shin"

What does the term "shin" mean in this context? I see it used several times in the article. Is it a Japanese word? Thanks! ++Lar: t/c 02:33, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New. It's based from the Chinese word "xin". Also means new. Ominae (talk) 05:31, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
