Wikepedia is a global phenomenon, and without any mention of jurisdiction this content is, quite frankly, useless. Different countries, and within countries different regional jurisdictions, will have entirely different laws on the subject. This article only mentions Oil & Gas and those things particular to Oil & Gas. It needs information on Coal, etc..
The "Poem" section includes only an unsourced poem (for which I can find no probable source, as a cursory search for the text only returns hits for this page), and doesn't seem to add anything of value to the article. Should the section be removed? bolinich 1/17/2019 00:10 (UTC)

Buying, selling, and recording mineral rights.
How do you purchase or otherwise obtain mineral rights? Who can sell or transfer mineral rights? How are mineral rights recorded (e.g. with a deed)? How is the value of the (unextracted) minerals accounted for in mineral rights? How are externalized costs (e.g. the inevitable pollution) accounted for in mineral rights?
