unreferenced translation

Added by Varma1492 (talk · contribs) -

Mayaro is an Arawak word. The word Maya means "plant" and Ro means "place of". Mayaro - place of the Ro Plant.

Removed as unreferenced. Guettarda 14:54, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is it unreferenced, but it also just doesn't make sense. According to the translation given for "ro", "ro" means "place of", but according do the translation given for "mayaro", "ro" is apparently the name of a plant... if the translation of "maya" and "ro" are correct, then it means "place of [the] plant", not "place of the ro plant". Of course, if it does mean "place of the ro plant", then a more complete translation would be "place of the place of plant" :-p My head is spinning... Tomertalk 15:54, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
