Did you know... that Maud Wagner(pictured) was the first known female tattoo artist in the United States?
This person is not notable, given the many qualifications in her supposed achievement. She is the first: Known. Female. US citizen. To be, hold your breadth, a tattoo artist. So each and every nationality should have separate pages for their first "known" tattoo artists? one male, one female? What about the thousands of women tattoo artists who practiced their art in Borneo for centuries before the whites came visiting? Please try to remain civil. Insulting people is not going to win any arguments. As to notability and historical interest... One person tattooing in a culture where tattooing is common, as in Borneo, is not notable (although the subject of tattoing in Borneo is). However, in the time and place, women did not commonly tattoo. Tattooing is now increasingly commonplace in western culture, and this article helps establish where this trend came from. At the time, this person was going against cultural norms, and in so doing helped change them. This is of historical interest.
