Personal life: "a conspiracy theory about the Holocaust."

The Personal life section currently contains the following text: "His doctoral dissertation was "The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism", a conspiracy theory about the Holocaust."
The source cited is: Yair Rosenberg, (27 April 2014) "Sorry, New York Times: Abbas Is Still A Holocaust Denier", Tablet. As far as I can see, the source does not support the allegation that Abbas's PhD dissertation was a "conspiracy theory about the Holocaust." In any case, the source is a highly partisan one to use as a source of fact about Abbas. In addition, that there were attempts at co-operation between some Zionists and the Nazis (and then the Soviet Union after the war) is beyond reasonable dispute (as a convenient point of comparison, see this Gush Shalmon article by Uri Avnery). The phrase "conspiracy theory" is overused and often deliberately designed to be derogatory; it should only be used in an encyclopaedia with much care. That applies even more when it is being used to describe a PhD thesis.

Tablet often publishes articles of high quality, but that one is atrocious. Zerotalk 15:44, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

"President of what?" in archive 3.

@Nableezy:, @Intelligent Mr Toad 2:. @Adam Carr:, The United Nations recognises The State of Palestine as a de jure sovereign state and couldn't have granted it non-member observer state status if it didn't. As do two members of the UN Security Council. PAustin4thApril1980 (talk) 09:05, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

In graphic design industry there is something like A/B tests, which could test if supposed change is desired. Typical usage is in marketing, but desired change is not in marketing(which is not in this case precise, because people doesn't behave such clearly), but entrepreneurship. 188.167.229.201 (talk) 09:26, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

Not asked "by Scholz"

It says "Amid an August 2022 visit to the German capital of Berlin, Abbas was asked by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz if he would apologize for the 1972 Munich massacre of Israeli Olympic athletes by Palestinian terrorists". This is false. Scholz did not ask him that. 2003:DF:6F04:7C00:B4AC:5C4:38FA:BAE0 (talk) 15:02, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

I support this criticism as he was asked by a journalist, as several German media reports refer. A correct description could be
"Amid an August 2022 visit to the German capital of Berlin, during a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Abbas was asked by a journalist, if he would apologize..."

Correct. I watched it on German television and they said it was a journalist, not Scholz, who asked about an apology for the Munich massacre. 89.204.135.154 (talk) 00:22, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be much debate here. I've amended the article to match the facts. Iskandar323 (talk) 10:08, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Article issues and classification

The article has an April 2012 inline "citation needed" tag and a May 2017 "Articles with dead external links" tag.
The B-class criteria #1 states; The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited and #4, The article is reasonably well-written. The tags either need addressing or the article reassessed.

External links

There are eighteen entries (including the "Articles" subsection) in the "External links". Three seems to be an acceptable number and of course, everyone has their favorite to add for four. The problem is that none is needed for article promotion.
  • ELpoints #3) states: Links in the "External links" section should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links.
  • LINKFARM states: There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to the external links section of an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. On articles about topics with many fansites, for example, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate.
  • WP:ELMIN: Minimize the number of links.
Moved excessive "External links" from the article here for any future discussion on inclusion.

Would you remove "Palestinian" in nationality = parameter from infobox that violates MOS:INFONAT. Surveyor Mount (talk) 13:03, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

Not done: Due to the complex history of the region, I think it's appropriate to have both birthplace and nationality. This is especially relevant because the state (or rather legal entity) he was born in does not exist anymore, but bears the same name as today's Palestine. As per the MOS you cite, "When needed (e.g. due to change of nationality after birth, dual "citizenship", or other unusual scenarios), use |nationality". Actualcpscm (talk) 16:47, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
