Original language for the deaf?

Could you source/clarify the point about "There will also be an original language adaptation for the deaf and hard of hearing."? I've seen it in your DYK hook and read it it here too, and I still don't understand what this is. I mean, since the movie is subtitled in 23 languages, surely the deafs can read the subtitles like everyone else. What is this "original language" thing? Do they re-enact the entire movie with sign language actors?— Komusou ^talk @ 22:13, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

OK! The film gets subtitled in other official EU languages for all the people, who do not speak the original language of the film. That is first. However, a hearing disabled person, whose mother language is the original language of the film will be unable to understand the film if it would not be subtitled in the original language of the film and if this person does not speak any other foreign language that is most likely for such a person. In this case, these people, and only these people, need the film subtitled in the original language. This is second. I hope I could make it a little bit clear. Aha! I get it now. Since the sentence already mentioned all 23 EU languages, I was wondering what sort of additional language they would use. I don't think the detail is important for the DYK hook, but it is for the article, which I'll edit to:

The Lux Prize consists of assistance in kind in the form of subtitling and video-to-film transfer (kinescopage) of the winning film in the 23 official EU languages (including the film's original language, for the deaf and hard of hearing).

(As for sign language, there is at least one movie acted in sign language, which is said to give Ed Wood a run for his money, but shhh! – I plan to write that article ;-q) Thanks for the explanation. — Komusou ^talk @ 15:47, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

This may just be an uncontested technical move (leaving a redirect from the upper/lower version, but I'm adding this here in case there's a reason I don't know about.
