Talk:Long Run massacre

Confusing

There are some serious issues with the chronology and alot of missing pieces. Here are the issues I encountered:

  • The article states that the Long Run Massacre occurred on 13 September 1781.
  • It then states that "a day earlier" (12 September), settlers learned that a raid was planned on their fort.
  • Then, "Some settlers hesitated for two days", so this would be 14 September? Two days after they heard a raid was planned, which is also one day after the massacre.
  • It sounds like those settlers that "hesitated" were the ones massacred. How could they have been massacred, if they hesitated until the day after?
  • Then, "Following the loss of part of their military guard" - wait, there was a military guard? How were they lost?
  • Then 17 soldiers were killed. Why are these included in the massacre casualties? I'm guessing they were armed and fought back, so seems more of a battle than a massacre. But if reliable sources includes them, then that's fine but should be explained.
