Indiscriminate

Since every restaurant will sooner or later be defunct, and most restaurants that ever existed are now defunct, how is this list not simply a list of every restaurant in America (slightly delayed)? -- GreenC 21:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Daddy-O's Express Drive-Thru

It is hard to find anything on the brand. They were a thing in the 90's. They might have went under with G. D. Ritzy's in the 90's. Link to former owner briefly speaking of them and the Ritzy's. Link to a datebase entry about G. D. Ritzy's abandoning the brand. Final link is to Bonanza a website that had the sale of a jacket with the logo for the chain. They can be best described as like Checkers/Rally's. Midwest chain that went to atleast two states (Illinois and Ohio). Not much is known about the chain. I'm posting this here encase someone wants to pick this up and make something of it. I think people simply forgot about them. Sad, really, as they had the best fries around, tasting like Arby's/Checkers fries. Devilmanozzy (talk) 12:08, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Portland, OR overrepresentation

There seems to be a disproportionately large number of entries in this page from Portland, Oregon. Can anyone verify that these are notable restaurant chains, or is someone just waxing nostalgic? Deltwalrus (talk) 23:56, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well given that the vast, vast majority of them have articles, they are on the surface notable. One would need to look at each individual article to determine whether it qualifies for deletion, and therefore deletion from this list. Lard Almighty (talk) 16:49, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lard Almighty To your point, there are currently several entries in the list which are not linked (I assume meaning non-notable). I think they should be removed until articles exist. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:55, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Deltwalrus I've written most of them. I've promoted ~30 entries about Portland restaurants to Good article status, so I'd like to think I have a pretty good understanding of notability criteria, etc. Yes, there are a lot of Portland restaurants but I've only added them to this list if they are independently notable. This list may need to be split at some point... the number of defunct notable restaurants in the US will only grow. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:25, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've forked out List of defunct restaurants in Portland, Oregon ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:40, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Defunct restaurants

Could you add Big Al’s . It was a hamburger chain started by “Happy Days” across Anson Williams and Al Molinaro in the Midwest during the late 70’s early 1980’s 216.240.248.249 (talk) 16:14, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Time for NYC list?

Might be time to consider List of defunct restaurants in New York City as a fork of List of defunct restaurants of the United States and List of restaurants in New York City. Thoughts?

@Rhododendrites and Transpoman: Pinging in case you are interested, as I think this has been discussed elsewhere recently. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:24, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
