Why is the United States not on this list?

OECD doesn't include the US in its list. I don't know why. This OECD paper (cited in the article) only says "data not available" for the US. My guess though is that US authorities don't collect or publish data on this in the same way most of the other OECD countries do. The US National Center for Health Statistics has published this report (from 2017) on antidepressant use in the US. That report is based on a survey and the unit of measurement is percentage of population (aged 12 and over) who reported antidepressant medication in the last month. OECD on the other hand uses defined daily dose (DDD) per 1000 inhabitants per day as its unit of measurement. There is a certain difference between these different measurement methods and they can't therefore be compared/transferred directly to each other. My proposal is that we have a separate list/table in this article for the countries who report antidepressant use in the same way as the US (percentage of population). /Caelus sv (talk) 19:52, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Defined Daily Dose

The units of this dose are not given. One might assume, for example, that in Iceland, 141.4 units of antidepressants per 1000 inhabitants, per day, means something like 141.4 milligrams per day, per 1000 people, or 0.141 mg. per person.
