Verdicts

Perhaps we could combine the list of verdicts into the actual episode listings? Or would that be too unecessarily cluttered? What's your view? Yllianos (talk) 02:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • That is a logical idea...But some people may find sorting verdicts alphabetically to be a bit easier than going through every episode. Plus, let's not forget that we don't have every correct episode summary available here yet. Nonetheless, we should keep this open as an option for now. SlyDante (talk) 22:27, 26 February 2008 (UTC

Quotes

Why are the quotes even on this page...? I believe it should have a page of it's own or started on Wikiquote. Yllianos (talk) 02:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The quote have been sucessfully moved to Wikiquote; which can be found at Video on Trial --Yllianos (talk) 06:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am also trying to figure out where that one fits in. There are 2 episodes with zero info, Ep302 and Ep305. I have another episode that doesnt appear here, I'm assuming its one of the 2, as well as that mysterious 80's episode.

Episode Jurors Accused Original airdate

  • Trevor Boris
  • Nicole Arbour
  • Ron Sparks
  • Jemeni
  • Darrin Rows
  1. Alfie - Lily Allen
  2. The Bird and The Worm - The Used
  3. We Takin' Over - DJ Khaled
  4. Never Again - Kelly Clarkson
  5. Hip Hop Hooray - Naughty By Nature

This one was recorded on my end aug 14 07. From this date I would assume that this would be episode 302 and the mystery 80's would be 305. Knowledgeum (talk) 00:51, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

302 sounds about right. On Darrin Rows's YouTube page, he has the Lily Allen video posted on August 15, 2007. --Yllianos (talk) 06:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the one I originally posted is 217 and the one currently in 217 is 305. --Yllianos (talk) 06:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have only the 1 recording of 302 despite setting my recorder for every airing, so I would hazard a guess that airdate would be april 14 for that one.Knowledgeum (talk) 07:19, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After a recent edit some of the episodes changed around, notably 217 disapeared completely. Now TV.com lists 217 as the mysterious 80's episode, whereas after the most recent edit it is now 312 on our list. Should we be changing to follow them, can we verify our ordering? Knowledgeum (talk) 03:00, 20 May 2008 (UTC).[reply]

How is the new episode numbering from TV.com? We had to shift some episodes because we were totally lost when 404 came and it was 100 episodes. I had only numbered 97. We figured 2 specials were included in the VOT numbering as well as the Hair Bands Special that was unaired. aldaros23 (talk)

For 405 was there really only 4 judges? They've always had at least 5. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aldaros23 (talkcontribs) 01:50, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Juror's Name

Some of the names in the juror have a middle name. Should I list them with there last name or middle name?

RfC: Is the List of Verdicts trivia?

Okay, someone keeps reverting my removal of a huge fancrufty part of this article as vandalism since he disputes its definition as trivia, and yet even also has a disclamier in an article (which I thought we were supposed to avoid). Anyway, if anything, what is part of the humorous part of the show, I think is just trivial and does not need to be included. I also have some other doubts about its inclusion. ViperSnake151  Talk  15:11, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Alright, I can understand why you could see it as trivial. But I fail to see how much different this is than, say, listing all of the stats & summaries for each Deadliest Warrior episode. Besides, it serves a second purpose as well, providing an easier way to track which artists & which of their videos have been featured on the show. I mean, having to look through over the summaries for a hundred episodes could take a while, & seeing it all in one place makes it simpler for the fans & everyone else interested in the show. And of course, it also provides a little sample of the show's humor. Also, as one part of the main article's trivia shows, the guys behind VOT are not too keen on having their Wiki articles demolished...=P SlyDante 15:36, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But that other show, unlike this, is actually not a comedy, its using scientific analysis and factual information. ViperSnake151  Talk  15:51, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is this the edit that is being discussed? --maclean 03:16, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. I don't mind having the lists of songs per episode, since that is encyclopedic and a good "summary" enough (especially on the "theme" episodes). ViperSnake151  Talk  03:25, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, just offer my opinion. (a) This show is not funny. (b) Wikipedia:TRIVIA states "This guideline does not suggest the inclusion or exclusion of any information; it only gives style recommendations." WP:TRIVIA suggests "logical grouping and ordering of facts that gives an integrated presentation, providing context and smooth transitions, whether in text, list, or table." (c) I would say the Verdicts are more akin to Deaths in List of Celebrity Deathmatch episodes, than the Deadliest Warrior summaries. (d) The Verdicts, like much of the comedians' material, are just vague popular cultural references, and are as funny as the stats on the Deadliest Warrior. (e) The list would be more usable if it were sortable. (f) WP:TRIVIA suggests integrating material into one integrated list, and if the Verdicts were integrated into the main list it would help the reader understand the nature of the show better, that is to say, the kind of humour the show presents. --maclean 04:04, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest incorporating it into the episode table then, if that will make everyone happy. Ever since we started collecting the show's info, there has always been an issue with the verdicts. They are still worthwhile to keep so I do not justify deleting them. Or just move them to a separate/it's own page. I like that the list is in order, so I can see how many times a certain artist is critiqued. It helps with trivia and other facts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aldaros23 (talkcontribs) 20:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If anything, I think in the spirit of plot summaries, I think we should maybe in a way, similar to those plot summaries, list what they were "accused" for. ViperSnake151  Talk  21:02, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Listing what they were accused for would be nearly impossible now for older episodes since there is no catalog of videos. There used to be a channel on YouTube, but it was removed. What we could do is format it into an episode guide with the ep #/title, cast, production code listed horizontally on one line. Then, a second box below it will contain the five videos on one side and then the verdicts and possibly the accusations *if* they can be found. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.248.21.98 (talk) 04:19, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Numbering

Why does it start at 101, and not just 1? —Preceding unsigned comment added by HEyyy XxMjF (talkcontribs) 08:29, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It allows us to see which season it's from. 101 = Season 1, Episode 1. It's pretty much standard, much like S01E01 is used. You could easily mix up Episode 1 with Season 2, Episode 1, and so on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.248.21.98 (talk) 02:10, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting the article

The episode list is getting pretty long, and I don't think VOT's ending anytime soon. Perhaps we could split the article into separate articles like "Video on Trial (season 1)"? Holiday56 (talk) 01:21, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have started splitting them up into other articles. Holiday56 (talk) 14:59, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
