For this new list article, there's probably some entries that could be added to it which can be found in any of the Now That's What I Call Xmas compilation album releases in the UK, such as this one for 2010. Songs on the list that were not actually hits
By the term hit in the UK I would expect all these songs to have charted in the UK. I began reading the list and quickly came across examples e.g. Christmas In The Sun by Rolf Harris and Rick Parfitt which did not achieve a chart position in the UK. I have removed this track as it cannot be found when searched for on the official UK chart archive as it did not chart and was in turn NOT a UK Christmas hit. There are many others in the official archive which I can list and shall in due course. And others that should be removed because they did not chart.By Christmas I am looking for songs themed on Chritsmas, snowman, santa, winter, December religious and charting at the Christmas period. Thank you Captainbeecher. Please proceed with making those changes. I personally feel that if a single never charted on the Official UK Singles Chart, it should not be listed as an entry in this article. Please don't forget to end your descriptions in the Additional Information column with a period (.) in order to be consistent with the remainder of the entries. Also, peak chart positions should be preceded by the label 'No.' rather than '#', as this is the standard used in the similar wikipedia article List of Christmas hit singles in the United States. Songs that have come to be regarded as Christmas songs
This one is more difficult than simply being a chart hit about a winter Christmas theme and I put out to others judge whether certain songs should be included for having achieved a perceived Christmas theme. One major example is Freiheit's Keeping the dream alive, which charted in the UK and often gets Christmas airplay for it's Christmassy feel. However this was actually a summer, not December hit and makes no mention of any relation to Xmas or winter. Two other examples were Christmas hits but again make no specific winter/xmas mention are the Paul McCartney hits 'Once upon a long ago' and 'The frog chorus' Neither song makes any specific mention but, especially in the case of the former, had strongly Christmassy targeted videos. On inspection I feel these should be included because when you remove the video for the song 'Pipes of Peace' it too has no specific mention of Christmas. There is nothing Christmassy about East 17 stay another day, nor Frankie Goes to Hollywood Power of love - they get played around Christmas and appear on Christmas albums but actually have no mention of christmas or winter. "Stay" Flagtastic (talk) 20:09, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
