I believe there is a movement to remove mixtapes from Wikipedia. --WheezyF (talk) 18:58, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Also, there's no mention of Stuntin Like my daddy in the album section.

Can anybody put some info up on the subject of the song "Kiss me baby" it is all over youtube and when you search for the lyrics they all say lil wayne, but when you search for it in it his CDs mix tapes and all that, you can't find it, not even on the leak. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.146.146.34 (talk) 04:06, 29 April 2023 (UTC) Lil firstsolo cd thebolck is hot came in 1999 after the release of B.G.s Chopper City in the Ghetto and the Hotboys Guerilla Warfare after the release of B.G.s classic Bling Bling.

Where is the mention of his kids

Wayne has one child. The other 3 that came up with him on the BET awards was Birdmans children

He is one of Birdmans children, so those were his brothers and sisters. The only time I have heard him mention his daughter is in a song called "I Man Needs a Real Woman".(Pstronk (talk) 21:05, 23 May 2008 (UTC)) he is not birdman's son.where's the proof?Smokiewight (talk) 21:32, 16 December 2008 (UTC) Another mention of his daughter is in "Receipt" off of The Carter II. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.213.184.48 (talk) 04:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Lil Wayne has one daughter and thats a fact because she is stated in many of his songs. Lil Wayne is not Birdmans biological son. and i dont know if birdman has kids but weezy was adopted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.12.144 (talk) 17:59, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

lil waynes feud with jay z and 50 cent

should we put a headline though its not techneccially a feud but their is some tensions definatly developing from the bet awards to interviews on mtv with 50 cent and jay zhenry 03:56, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

My point of view on this subject is that I have no idea what feud there is between Jay Z and Lil' Wayne. I don't believe Jay Z would have featured him on his American Gangster Album if there was. As for the feud between him and 50 Cent I believe it is because Lil' Wayne doesn't respect the fact of how much 50 Cent talks about being a gangster but is out of the game and Lil' Wayne and Birdman are still hustlin' every day. As Lil' Wayne would say "they're uptown boys".Pstronk (talk) 21:18, 23 May 2008

Im getting the feeling alot of people on here don't know S*** about Lil Wayne. Yes he did have a fued with 50 Cent but he murdered him obviously not only with "Gossip" but if you a real fan you should know and the "Jay-Z Fued", well it wasn't really a fued depending on how you look at it, he started calling himeself the "Best Rapper Alive" when many fans gave that nickname to Jay-Z as well as calling himself "Young Carter" as if Jay-Z is the old has-been Carter and he took his title. In the song "Ether Pt.2" by Lil Wayne he indirectly disses him and never mensions his name though the chorus does say "Fuck Jay-Z". So yeah the fueds should be put up on the article.

Im getting the feeling you don't know s*** about Weezy either. In ether part 2, he raps "naw my n****, I fucks with Jay-Z". So how's that a diss song? It's only a freestyle. Jay-z and Weezy are cool. So no, the feud should not be put up on the article.

Im getting the feeling that you are all half retared when it comes to weezy . yall needa be some die hard fans and really keep up with his sh*t if yall gonna try and come up on here and try and spit this sh*t right .. you know what im sayinq .. for the most part this "fued" you all speak about is nothing. Jay-z is way to respected to have problems with another greatly respected artist. lil wayne may have indirectly dissed jay-z simply becuz he calms his the "best rapper alive" but well face it .. weezy is the best rapper alive && jay-z is somewhat of old news. but afrer the release of the new song "Mr.Carter" which is a weezy song ;; featured by jay-z im pretty sure we all know that there is no feud.

Get rid of feuds section

This seems terribly POV and makes for an unbalanced read. The information seems like it's usable but please integrate it into the regular narrative rather than having a seperate feuds section. Benjiboi 13:24, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I have been in contact with the Hip hop Wikiproject to find out if this can be removed. I do not like it either. --WheezyF 15:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm in favor of putting feuds back into the article, as numerous other hip-hop articles have a section like this, we can presume it is appropriate to put it in. Someone should add information about feuds with Clipse and Jay-Z.

I think Wiki should put feuds back on because it is information about lil wayne and lil wayne is apart of hip hop and beef is apart of hip hop and wik gave information out in all formsDatBitch (talk) 12:56, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Rumors

I removed the item from the "Rumors" section for two reasons. The first is the article was in the December 2007 issue of Vibe, not 2008. Late in 2008, sources revealed that Lil Wayne has been using a ghost writer for major hits like Lollypop, Go DJ, etc. An elite underground artist named BamaCush showcases his raw talent and undisputedly, that he is the realest. See this revealing video on youtube.

Much like Bob Dylan in the 1960s, Lil Wayne has been named the unwitting voice of a generation in the early 21st century. His pervasive lyrics and poetic rhymes have hypnotized a generation. Lil Wayne, an advocate of change in American society, has eternally affected the well-being and quality of American music. His music will be forever pervasive and life-changing to a young group of American citizens. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.10.27.140 (talk) 05:34, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Lil Wayne Career in 2007

It saddens me that there is no mention of Lil' Wayne becoming extremely popular in 2007 because of DA Drought 3 albulm. Being called The Hottest Rapper, getting awards for Men of the Year, and having more features then any other artist should have a mention. There should also be atleast a mention on the extreme amount of music he released in 2006/2007 on mixtapes, since that is a reason that he is so popular. The page right now, is pretty weak compared to his status right now. (Sorry about my english, not native, but the message should be clear)

Rain89nl (talk) 18:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

I also think it is a shame that there is no mention of the work Lil' Wayne did in 2007. He released over 250 songs, most of them on mix tapes and over the internet. Name another artist who has done that EVER! That is why he won "Man of the Years" Workaholic award in GQ's Magazine.Pstronk (talk) 21:33, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Is it possible to prevent people without accounts from commenting in this page?

It's full of stupid comments talking about how Lil Wayne is "the greatest rapper ever". Also IIRC, this page is for discussion about the page, not comments about how "great" Lil Wayne is.

Is it possible to add a protection to this page? 68.8.104.62 (talk) 05:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Do Not Add Mixtapes Not Sponsored by Lil Wayne

Mixtapes such as "The Drought is Over" series was not done by Lil Wayne, but DJs who recieved leaked material. Only add sponsored mixtapes, such as "Da Drought" Series or the "Dedication".

uhm drought is over is lil wayne, it is his voice and he's the once who produced the music. so shut the fuck up, smoke some weed and listen to weezy at the same time.

There is a very small number of Wayne sponsered mixtapes. The Drought is Over series was made from leaked music by The Empire. Though they are poular, and I own all of them they should not b On January 23, 2008, Lil Wayne was arrested alongside two others. His tour bus was stopped by Border Patrol agents near Yuma, Arizona. Lil Wayne had a .44 caliber pistol. A K-9 Unit recovered 105 grams of marijuana (3.7 ounces), almost 29 grams of cocaine (1.02 ounces), 41 grams of Ecstasy (1.4 ounces) and $22,000 dollars in cash. [1] It was released that he has his Concealed Weapons License, completed for the state of Florida; however the power of jurisdiction falls under state ruling, and his legitimacy of possessing a firearm in the state of Florida holds no significance in Arizona. Lead section

The lead section of the article should be a summary of the topic. There is no need to list every album/mix tape etc. that he has released.

The lead should probably be trimmed down to say that he was signed as a teenager, recorded 3 albams as part of the boy rap group. He went solo in ____ year, has released X albums, numerous mixtapes and contributed to many projects by other artists. And probably mention the MTV award. The specific name and year of each release is covered in depth later and not needed in the lead section. TheRedPenOfDoom (talk) 02:08, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Arrest/Criminal Charges Pending

Why has this been removed? Lil Wayne is facing 3 SERIOUS felony drug charges (possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, misconduct involving weapons and a possession of drug paraphernalia) in Arizona and various other charges in a number of states including two pending felony gun charges in New York. Was the entry for his College education deleted?

I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a section or an entry in the article that talked about Lil' Wayne' current collegiate career? I've looked through the logs to see if it was deleted. Maybe I overlooked it. But, if it was deleted, it shouldn't have.

The fact of him even continuing his education would be very significant. There aren't too many rappers, past or present that have gone on to college, much less completed a college degree. And considering it's Lil' Wayne, this information should've stayed.

Many articles on Wikipedia do in fact have a criticism section. I am in favor of a criticism section. Someone please add this section. Criticism should outline topics like heavily synthesized voice, very repetitive lyrics, vague meaning and representation to any real issues in many of his songs, and simply the poor taste, in the opinions of some viewers, in the combination of sounds and instruments which often sound distorted, fuzzy, or annoying. Not everyone will agree with this criticism but that's why it's called a criticism section. 216.36.141.75 (talk) 02:22, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Those are all just opinions. It would make no sense to add such nonsense. The same could be said about every other rapper out there.Dumaka (talk) 13:48, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

His CCW

The article states that his having a CCW permit in Florida has nothing to do with carrying a firearm in Arizona. Arizona and Florida have a reciprocity agreement in regards to CCW permits meaning a person legally licensed in the state of florida can legally carry in Arizona. The section should be edited. He was not breaking the law by carrying his gun.

Arizona Reciprocity

Information about Arizona Reciprocity can be found at it's CCW permit Unit website: http://www.azdps.gov/ccw/reciprocity/default.asp

It states:

"Arizona recognizes all other states valid permits:

This state and any political subdivision of this state shall recognize a concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state if both:

1. The permit or license is recognized as valid in the issuing state.

2. The permit or license holder is all of the following:

(a) Not a resident of this state.

(b) Legally present in this state.

(c) Not legally prohibited from possessing a firearm in this state."

Thank you for providing an original/primary source of the Arizona gun laws. Unlike research papers for school or opinion pages on the web, Wikipedia articles cannot be created with original research. All analysis in wikipedia articles must be done by a previously published source. If you can find a reliable source that has made the same analysis that you have regarding the charges against Lil Wayne, we can include that in the article. -- The Red Pen of Doom 02:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Reviewing the actual content of the source, I have re-worded the material. If you have a source that discusses the results of the court appearance, that information should be added as well. -- The Red Pen of Doom 03:15, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

It's not really an analysis, so much as pointing something out from Wayne's lyrics. How does one source the lyrics of a song on one of his officially released albums, then, as that is where the information is coming from? Also, the other part about there being another song titled "Best Rapper Alive" on Tha Carter II can be proved by anyone simply picking up the CD case and looking at the track listing.HunterLettice (talk) 14:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

It says in here under Early Life that "The next year, Wayne acted as the Tin Man in his middle school drama club's production of The Wiz and accidentally shot himself in the chest with a .44-caliber," which obviously makes no effing sense, even if Lil Wayne did play the Tin Man in his middle school drama club. I don't seem to have the power to fix this, but someone who does should.

Highschool sweetheart?

How can Toya Johnson be Lil Wayne's high school sweetheart if he dropped out at 14? It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense and I think someone (with more knowledge than me) should look at it a little bit. ImJFAT 02:12, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

He was in 10th grade he was going to be 15, meaning he was well in high school and he didn't have to graduate in order for them to be high school sweethearts...Plus 'Toya got pregnant that same year and gave birth to his daughter that following year, when he was 16. --Soulja nyn3 (talk) 21:46, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

gillie the kid?

how come this article doesn't mention the controversy with gillie the kid and the alleged ghostwriting? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.166.189.2 (talk) 20:11, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

==Some More Personal Info==he is best friend swith rey vasquez In an article I found while signing on to AIM, Lil Wayne revealed he lost his virginity at age 10. Why is this article locked?

While the comment above me might be a clue as to certain edits that may have occurred, I was just curious why this blocked because I wanted to remove the line "He is the standing the height of 5'5." at the end of the intro because 1.) doesn't belong there, 2.) sounds like something Mahir would say! 24.3.14.157 (talk) 04:16, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I also wanted to edit the portion of the page stating that he played guitar with Kid Rock on the CMAs. It would seem more accurate to state that he pretended to play guitar. --Cheese.Grits (talk) 22:38, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Please stop disruptive editing of factual and useful content

To JBSupreme, I have made an edit to this page and you have deleted my entry. The edit i have made concerned another artist, Kevin Rudolf, on whom's song "Let It Rock" Lil Wayne is featured. This is a major hit, and it is very well known with multiple sources. Just put it in google and see how many hits you get. So my question to you JBSupreme is, why are you deleting the edit I am making? Do you dispute the factual nature of my edit? Thanks. Lil Wayne is *not* dead

For anyone who's intent upon adding the link to the kineticnorth.com site that claims he's dead: it's a hoax. Don't add it, either here or on the article. Thanks. Tony Fox (arf!) 02:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Lil Wayne will commit suicide at age 27 and he will join the 27 club like Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Robert Johnson.

That is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.Dumaka (talk) 13:44, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Oops

Sorry Tony, I didn't realize it was a hoax. How did this rumour start, and why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by WaterZoo (talkcontribs) 02:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

You should know better than any of us. It's a link on a hoax site, not indexed by Google, not reported on any reliable news source. How did you get the link in the first place?—Kww(talk) 02:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Please remember to assume good faith. It doesn't necessarily follow that someone who views such a site realizes it is a hoax. Celarnor Talk to me 02:33, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

A friend of mine sent me the link in all seriousness. (WaterZoo (talk) 02:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC))

Nothing in my above statement says anything else. It just seems obvious to me that he came in contact with the rumor earlier than either I or TonyFox.—Kww(talk) 02:39, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

And yes, thank you for the reminder. I wasn't trying to launch a hoax or spread rumours, I was convinced by the website, but I'm obviously not tech-savvy enough to realize it was fake. (WaterZoo (talk) 02:35, 3 November 2008 (UTC))

The URL should have been enough to convince you (The BBC's website has the .uk TLD - BBC's official website). In the future, if someone passes you such a link claiming to be a report of a celeb death, read the first part of the URL - if it's anything other than what the site it appears as's actual URL is, you've been duped. -Jéské Couriano (v^_^v) 08:34, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

The Dedication 3

The page should be edited to include the new Lil Wayne and DJ Drama mixtape "The Dedication 3", which was released on November 14, 2008. -lauerhunt 18:02, 14 November 2008

The Drought is Over Mixtapes

Aren't those official ? or at least semi-official? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.218.68.24 (talk) 03:38, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Not even close to official. It's a DJ stealing his music and putting it on mixtapes. (This is the reason Carter III got leaked.) SE KinG (talk) 04:18, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I must agree, and I must admitt that this album is great, and if you google yourself and see this Lil Wayne, I suport you and you are the man. I have all respect for you.

the article is long enough to support 2 images - the current image is perhaps the more typical lede image. -- The Red Pen of Doom 03:07, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
I agree on a new image because the current one is old and distorted, however it should be a real picture that someone took. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 03:48, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Done. Replaced the image, moved earlier image to "Mixtapes and cameos"-section. Looks better IMO. Karppinen (talk) 16:46, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

New Lil Wayne movie

In the movie section, there should be another movie.

Because in 2009, Birdman has stated that there will be a movie based on both of them with a brand new album called "Like Father, Like Son"
