Lethal White (novel) → Lethal White – Lethal White is a redirect to Lethal white syndrome, and the name "Lethal white" isn't included in the list of alternative names for the condition. A Google search shows a heavy return on the Lethal White novel (unsurprising, as it's by JK Rowling). SchroCat (talk) 15:17, 7 November 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.Steel1943 (talk) 00:09, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not convinced myself. I suggest an RM to be sure. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 15:31, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Horse people likely often shorten the disease's name to "lethal white". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:24, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"Horse people" (centaurs?) may do, but that is a tiny minority of readers, and they will know what the full name is. When the 98% of the world that are "non-horse people" search for it, it is likely to be for the novel by JK Rowling. The proper name of the horse condition is Lethal White Syndrome, and the name "Lethal White" isn't given in the opening of the article as an alternative name. The proper name for this novel is "Lethal White", and a Google search for "Lethal White" gives an avalanche of connections to the book, and a small drip of responses for the horse condition. - SchroCat (talk) 17:12, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And? People have actually heard of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's - the horse community is tiny in comparison, and the name of this syndrome even less well known than that. - SchroCat (talk) 19:58, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The horse condition has been known of for a long time. The book came out less than 2 months ago and likely will prove to be as ephemeral as most novels. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 17:40, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Unlikely: It's a JK Rowling novel and there is an adaptation in the pipeline, as with the rest of the Strike series. That we have a redirect to something related, rather than using the proper name without the disambig seems illogical to me. The horse name is Lethal white syndrome, not Lethal White - see WP:SMALLDETAILS on how the naming of such articles should be decided. - SchroCat (talk) 19:58, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Note also that the book is named after the syndrome. The plot summary refers to "artwork depicting a mare mourning a foal that died of lethal white syndrome". —BarrelProof (talk) 18:40, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So you need to either have a re-direct from "Lethal White" to the book or to the syndrome. At the moment there is one from the syndrome to the book. Does it matter greatly to reverse the process and instead have the redirect from the book to the syndrome ? In neither case is it exactly difficult to locate whichever of the two articles you are looking for. RGCorris (talk) 13:31, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No, we need to have "Lethal White" hosting this article with a hatnote to the syndrome, and "Lethal white syndrome" leading to the syndrome page. Per WP:SMALLDETAILS, we should be using the difference in capitalisation and proper names to differentiate the articles. - SchroCat (talk) 10:38, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support move. The novel is the primary topic for "Lethal White". ONR(talk) 01:10, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Even if we ignored the fact that "Lethal White" is not the same as "lethal white syndrome", this article would still be the WP:primary topic in a WP:TWODABS situation.[1] Just add a hatnote pointing to the syndrome. Station1 (talk) 05:33, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support, a hatnote would be better than a dab page in this instance. —Xezbeth (talk) 08:51, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
