I saw the reference to suicide in the orginal posting and the linked source. I was curious about the circumstances and Googled the name to learn more - which led me to the AP/NY Times obit at the NY Times site. The obit described death by cancer following a significant hospital stay.

I could find no other reference to suicide beyond the passing mention in the original source.

The obit seemed a far more reliable source.
