History of paper?

"...published from 1863 to 1944."

The history of the newspaper as presented in this article seems to extend only to about 1900. There is nothing to back up that 1944 end date. In addition to the external links with to issues up to 1940, Google News Archive has issues that span from 1870 to 1976, though sporadic at each end of that range. Somewhere along the line it seems to have become a weekly. There is a current website for Le Petit Journal, but I don't know if it's associated with the original newspaper or not: http://lepetitjournal.com/

If someone is able to navigate French, the history of this paper needs to be examined further.

The subject of this article is....?

I second the motion. Is this an article about the newspaper or an article about sporting events? In the original French the "Compétitions sportives" section consists of two very short paragraphs. This entire article comes very close to being off-topic. WQUlrich (talk) 23:43, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Added what I could. I'm hesitant to delete big chunks without a consensus....although virtually all of the sporting event material is repeated in the article on Pierre Giffard. WQUlrich (talk) 00:20, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Lacking a consensus, took the middle ground and blanked that section with a note why. WQUlrich (talk) 20:07, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
