If there are no objections, I'll take this review. I'll note at the outset I've had no role in editing or creating this article. I welcome other editors at any stage to contribute to this review. I will spend a day familiarising myself with the article and then provide an assessment. Kind regards, LT910001 (talk) 09:36, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Though I did not nominate (that was an IP), as the main contributor I will address your comments. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:55, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for waiting. In conducting this review, I will:

  • Provide an assessment using WP:GARC
  • If this article does not meet the criteria, explain what areas need improvement.
  • Provide possible solutions that may (or may not) be used to fix these.

Assessment

Rate Attribute Review Comment
1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct.
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. Verifiable.
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose).
2c. it contains no original research.
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style). Covers major areas
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
7. Overall assessment.

Commentary

I have provided an assessment of this article using the GA criteria. I don't see any problems which will prevent a GA promotion, however would like some more time to consider this article and check sources; consequently, I've marked some entries above as undecided. With the festive season upon us in many countries, I will provide a more full assessment of this article after boxing day (December 26th), but do not anticipate any major problems. Kind regards, --LT910001 (talk) 11:17, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for waiting, I hope you had a wonderful festive season. I have a few mostly stylistic concerns:--LT910001 (talk) 01:42, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article would benefit from an image, even if it is the front page of the magazine in which the story was published. The current image is tangential, at best.
  • "Langit Makin Mendung" is written with quotation marks, but per MOS:TITLE and consistent with the other titles of short stories and books in the article, it should be written using italics.
  • The information in the "Background" section would benefit from some dates, with the date of publication of the book inserted.
  • Why is Togog wikilinked, if it is only a name?
  • This statement "Kipandjikusmin later told Ekspres " may need to be explained, as Kipandjikusmin was the nom-de-plume rather than the real name, so I feel it would be worth noting whether this was face-to-face or communicated via writing
  • No sources are included speculating about who Kipandjikusmin is?

This is a very engaging article, and I don't see any of the above preventing promotion, however I feel some of the above should be addressed before the article is promoted. --LT910001 (talk) 01:42, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is a picture of one of the critics. Access to Indonesian magazines from the 1960s is quite difficult, and I don't think I could find that particular edition where I live. Kipandjikusmin's identity is still not known, so no images of him, and no free images of Jassin yet. Since images are not required, I don't think this is actionable at this time.
  • Read WP:QUOTEMARK again. Short stories are in quotes, as are songs/singles, short poems, etc. Novellas and longer would be in italics.
  • Added some years for the second paragraph.
You're indeed correct. Thanks, it's hard to be on top of Wiki's many guidelines. --LT910001 (talk) 23:35, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Togog is a character in wayang stories who often serves as a foil to Semar, and thus (once we have an article on Togog) the meaning of the name becomes clear (there's an article in Indonesian already, at Togog). I've used similar linking at Semar Gugat, which also includes some redlinks by necessity.
Ah, thanks! A pity that isn't an article. --LT910001 (talk) 23:35, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Written; added
Thanks --LT910001 (talk) 23:35, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't have any at the moment, no. But I think my university has an anthology of the polemics about the story, so I can get that later. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:54, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conclusion

Whilst I feel the article would benefit from an image and/or discussion of the anonymous identity of the author, as it stands, I feel this article meets or exceeds the GA criteria. Thanks for your edits to this article and bringing it up to this status, and well done! I've made the required changes, and wish you well on your wiki-travels. --LT910001 (talk) 23:38, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • No need for this to stop adding the images or discussion of author at a later date!
    • Thanks. I'll be stopping by campus later, so I'll try and get that anthology. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:45, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Great. I've also changed the type of GA from journalism to literature, as it appears journalism mainly deals with magazines or journals as-is, and works appear to be stored in the literature section. --LT910001 (talk) 23:59, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
