  • Can you make the etymology a little more explicit? (I.e., say that Alnus = alder and cola = inhabitant).
  • "Cap martin (edge of the cap)"—is the gloss necessary?
  • "with matted fibrils beneath the gluten near the margin"—please explain
  • "central and Californian population"—don't you mean "central Californian"?
  • "slowly stains pale yellow"—when? Does it become yellow in maturity or when you do something to the fungus?
  • "nominate subspecies"—wouldn't that be the nominate variety?
  • So how can we distinguish it from Catharellus cibarius?
  • Should the lead mention that it may also form associations with non-conifers, like oaks and alders?
  • India is a big place, so I think you should mention the state. Are there no data on ecological associations there?
