Liberal, libertarian or conservative

The MBL is not a libertarian movement. It is a conservative movement and promotes a free-market laissez-faire economy, being closer to Voluntaryism and Minarchism than libertarianism.

To me laissez-faire, voluntaryism and minarchism are all more closely associated with libertarianism than with conservatism. I know everyone has a different opinion and that's why I think it's better to actually explain their policy ideas rather than just trying to put a label on them. Have you ever seen the trainwreck that is the page Definitions of fascism? Pelirojopajaro (talk) 14:03, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The MBL movement does not have a clear ideology. The proposals on their website are very specific to the current brazilian legislation, but they fit Libertarianism (individual freedom of choice) more closely than liberalism, as defined by wikipedia. Examples of MBL proposals are: end of mandatory voting, end of mandatory military service, extension of direct election for more public offices (such as the second in line for senate chairs), freedom of choice of which bank to have welfare programs credited in (currently, brazilian citizens on social welfare must have an account on a specific state-owned bank and have benefits credited there), freedom of choice on how to receive the 13th-wage (in Brazil salaries are paid monthly, and federal law mandates the payment of an extra 13th wage at the end of the year; MBL advocates that citizens should be able to choose to receive 12 equal installments of this 13th-wage along the year), end all of mandatory contribution to worker unions. • Clarifying my previous comment: I agree with Pelirojopajaro that such labels are subjective and that it's better to explain his proposals and points of view rather than to just slap a couple of ideological labels. Liberalism is sometimes associated with the expansion of a welfare state, and that goes in the opposite direction of MBL's views and proposals. Fbergo (talk) 17:12, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
