new address for kickass torrents is kickass2.cc please change it and the site status Malayu1 (talk) 16:42, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Not done: See the various talk page discussions on this. None of the new sites is a perfect recreation of the pre-July 2016 version.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:07, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kickass Torrents have a domain formerly known as kat.how this domain is still active but redirecting to another domain.

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. JTP (talkcontribs) 05:16, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated info

Please change the Revival section to reflect that the revival was short lived and as of this date no equivalent sites have properly continued the legacy of KickassTorrents (especially since the address at Katcr.co is no longer active). Otherwise you are just leading people into the hands of scam artists trying to sell vpns or even worse, trying to infect people's machines with malware. 77.138.224.125 (talk) 15:29, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite right that Katcr.co is no longer active and it hasn't been for some time. Here is an archived link from the Wayback Machine in July 2020, which says "katcr.co » newkatcr.co The site is currently migrating data to our new domain. Meanwhile, the site functions will be added according to its progress and validations. Thanks for your understanding, Regards, KAT-TEAM." This shows an intention to move to newkatcr.co, but I have just had a look there and it is only a placeholder page. For practical purposes, it has to be assumed that katcr.co is currently defunct, and any revival would need to be confirmed by a reliable source such as TorrentFreak. There are various clone sites with names that are similar to Kickass Torrents, but these are likely to be unofficial and it is right not to mention these in case they contain scams, malware etc which has been a problem in the past. The Wayback Machine shows that Katcr.co was up and running in June 2020 [1] but had gone offline by July 2020. I've adjusted the wording in the article to make this clear.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:27, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Change domain to kickass.to

Would it be alright if I changed the domain for the site to kickass.to, the domain of KAT seized by ICE? The domain linked redirects to a random domain registrar. M4sugared (talk) 12:52, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kickass.to was the original version of the site, shut down by law enforcement in 2016. As of today, it is still showing a notice saying "This domain has been seized". Katcr.co was the revival version and it has not been online since 2020, as of today it is showing a placeholder page for anyone who wants to buy the domain. There are currently no officially recognised versions of the site, although there are various sites with lookalike names. I wouldn't object to putting the original name, kickass.to in the infobox.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 13:15, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

POV Pushing

"The investigation was led by special agent Jared Der-Yeghiayan, who also tracked down Ross Ulbricht, the operator of the online black market Silk Road."

And so what? The article is about KAT, and not the career highlights of some Fed. Feels like the article is trying to force an association between sometimes legal file sharing, with a website where you buy drugs and arrange to have people killed. "Mr. Smith was arrested for speeding by Officer Jones, who was at the scene when Ted Kaczynski was arrested.", ergo Mr. Smith and Ted Kaczynski have something in common.72.181.112.54 (talk) 22:40, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
