Sewage

"The soil outlets of the toilet seats are taken through the hull and let out to the flowing water beneath." Does this mean that raw sewage is dumped into the waters?76.123.203.164 (talk) 12:56, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

Most sites including this page translate Kettu in Kettuvallam into "tied", and attribute the word to the way these boats are built. This cannot be true - because that is the way all traditional boats are built in Kerala, not just Kettuvallams. Kettu here means "built" or "roofed" (kettu as in "Nalukettu", or "Kettidam"). So the correct translation of Kettuvallam is "Boat(vallam) with a roof". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.237.131.36 (talk) 14:00, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
